Jill is so unlikable

This is one of the rare posts that doesnt talk about the way Jill looks but rather how she behaves.

The first time we met Jill was in RE1 where she was a humble, professional, nice and caring STARS operative. I think its safe to assume that everyone liked Jill.

Fast forward to RE3 (which only takes place a few months after RE1) and Jill became a total b*tch. "I know what a radio is" "Not your partner" and so on... Why? I understand she doesnt trust Carlos in the beginning but still, it just doesnt even seem like we are playing with Jill. I think many of her values were lost, they made her sassy and rude for no reason at all.

I usually really like RE characters, i really liked both Leon and Claire in last year's remake but i am struggling to like Jill at all. Its almost as devs want us to hate us and to let Nemesis crush her head...

Jill has ptsd from the mansion incident, has a real fear that she was infected by the virus and could turn at any moment. Has been couped up in her apartment the whole time, underwatch by either Irons, Umbrella, or both, technically both anyway. She's afraid that they are planning on killing her to keep everything under wraps. (which they did plan to do with Nemesis). And then she meets UMBC forces which are literally the people she was expecting to come kill her. Now she's being told hey we need your help. Of course she doesn't trust them.

I dunno maybe she's a bit peeved that she's dealing with zombies again, tried to warn the city but was shut down, lost her friend, and is stuck hanging out with a dude that works for Umbrella's merc army. Might I remind you Umbrella is the primary antagonist of the first three games and she's got pretty solid reasons to be annoyed at everything?

It's a shame we didn't really get to see any of that. I thought they were going to maybe do some kind of flashbacks and the whole first person thing in the apartment. Leading up to some kind of plot twist eventually.

It's a shame we didn't really get to see any of that. I thought they were going to maybe do some kind of flashbacks and the whole first person thing in the apartment. Leading up to some kind of plot twist eventually.

She was passed out at her desk. Had a PTSD nightmare at two different points in the plot. Has documents in her apartment about being under watch. The note Brad snuck her with a pizza. A ♥♥♥♥ ton of pills on her nightstand. And a conspiracy board setup in her living quarters.

Yeah they didn't show anyyyyy of that at all.

capcom fears the rainbow haired virtue signalers and their game reviews, they had to remake her with a independent woman who don't need no man attitude or the game will get review bombed for misogyny or some other nonsense.

She's been suspended for doing her job, heavily medicated due to PTSD, forced to stay home to not get killed by Umbrella, I think it's understandable.

She literally thanked and apologize to Carlos in a scene. Is literally the opposite of "need no man". She kinda admit that she can't do ♥♥♥♥ alone.

Jill is actually pretty much set up like a female 90's action heroine. With all the ups and downs that entails.

She's brash, and wants to do everything herself.
She's strong and independent.
She has some sort of trauma she must overcome.
She gets captured or defeated and the lover interest must rescue her.
She refuses help of the love interest in the end in the final fight but not because she still must do everything herself but now because she trust them and has grown as a character.

Pretty standard 90's heroine tropes. I can see how people looking for SJW's would missinterpret this but I don't think the tropes lie.

I too liked Leon (ma man) and Claire in the remake.
For Leon I didn't feel he's any different from Leon I met 16 years ago when turned on my first RE game. Claire I don't really know, but didn't come up at me as an 4sshole. RE3R Jill on the other hand... this is not Jill. As I'm concerned RE3R has 2 new characters I do not know.

I cheered for Nicholai at the end.

Like others said, the start of the game pretty much sets up why she acts this way. She eventually acts friendly to Carlos and even shows concern for some of the other umbrella mercs, she has her moments of being nicer.
