Any other City building Games worth getting excited about?
With Cities Skylines 2 a total fail is there any other modern city building games worth looking into or are we stuck with nothing?

I know it is not a city builder, but if you haven't already, consider giving Manor Lords a chance. At least for me, it scratches a similar kind of itch.

There is still the original Cities: Skylines which has an active and supportive community which has created (and continues to create and update) thousands of assets and mods. The original game isn’t perfect, which is why the sequel was much anticipated as the next generation of city builder, but it is playable and the possibilities for customization are now almost limitless. And Cims ride bikes and visit parks and get in each others’ way, just like in real life.
High Rise City is very good. It's more of a puzzle city builder, but it has full industrial chains and systems that drive how you develop. Thinsg are a bit more "area of effect" focused but every type of building basically produces and consumes resources so it all flows together. It's very good.
So many great and interesting games out there, not only with modern theme or only pure city builders like - Manor Lords, Ostriv, Going Medieval, Ancient Cities (not great optimisation, but solid game), Frostpunk, Anno series (1800 is my favourite) and definitelly Workers&Resources, if you didn´t play this one. If you want more management or RPG style city builders - Medieval Dynasty, Sengoku Dynasty. If you want pure management and detailer games - Project Hospital, Prison Architect, Rimworld, Clanfolk, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Project Highrise, The Universim...
Yes, Workers & resources soviet republic is worth checking out.
Original City Skylines gets my vote, the there are some others like Workers and Resources which might be worth checking out.

Manor Lords is in EA and pretty darn good

I'm a fan of Satisfactory which technically isn't a city builder, but you CAN build skyscrapers and megafactories.

No, not really. I haven't seen any as half good as any of the two Cities Skylines games... despite CS2 still crashing to desktop (any grieviences to the publisher (whose name should never be mentioned anywhere again) as they were most likely , and still are, to be blamed for that state, not Colossal Order).
Been playing with best of them... and they all pretty quickly get me bored. Even Manor Lords.
Against the storm is supposed to be good.

I'd rather play one of the mentioned, not Cities Skylines 2, which is holding my pc neck and throttling my hardware. I have no problem with any of the mentioned games. But skylines simply have to be something different. Glitches, random crashes with no autosave, constant fps drops, endless hordes of dogs everywhere I look, falling snow and rain that you can barely see through, mods that can be harmful and obviously aren't exploit-proof, an asset creator that you might not see nor the light of day. I love CS2... but it's just a tinsel that's beautiful. It has been rotting inside since release. And CO just cover the tinsel with gold instead of getting rid of the rot.

Not a city builder, but the game I play the most is Transport Fever 2, with mods. Taking a realistic map, as in Central Japan, Korea, Spain or France and building the transport network

Yeah, pretty much sums up the way I feel. This is certainly better than the best of the worst. And getting better, although painfully incrementally.

mate, look at your stats, seriously. More than 10K hours in this game? You know, how many days it is? You spent more than 438 days play CS2. Since release on 24. october 2023 till today it´s 456 days. So basically you just played this game and slept. CO and Paradox should give you an award for your dedication.
Well I personally loved URBEK with its rich assets and themes😍 https://store.steampowered.com/app/1411740/Urbek_City_Builder/
Unfortunately no. There are niche games like Workers are Resources that are fine games, but you're tied down to those aesthetics. Theres nothing that compares to CS1's variety in terms of city builders in the last 10 years. This would probably be different if there was an asset editor for CS2. Manor lords is fun and an absolutely amazing game-in-progress, but its still an entirely different game.

ehh to be fair, I don't play the game very much at all and steam claims I have 1k hours on the game. And thats only because 99% of that time is spent running the game unattended to see if it crashes, or waiting on a loading screen on my gaming computer while I do work. I dont know why people pay so much attention to that crap
