How to combat Homelessness?
housing space is exhausted, no more workspace available (high joblessness) Yet there are still more people moving in. Any1 knows what I can do to battle this problem? apart keep building highrises?

Fiddled around with taxes, seems to add to the problem and almost killed my city.

Heard it's bugged at the moment, I have completely zero demand and losing population despite extremely high happiness and low taxes. There's a bunch of "Wealthy" homeless people sitting in my parks though.
What you can do is...
a) Be risky and hike up taxes (guess you already tried that)
b) Delete all parks and make people less happy
c) Wait for a patch

since economy game update there is a bug in the game - use the mod "Bye Bye Homeless"

I cranked up the taxes to the max and have let it run. About half a year later I have noticed, is my Hospitals have emptied, and my crime rate went down. That tells me, there are less homeless people around.

The best way is to install the mod "bye bye homeless" that was made to address this bug in the game. Once they patch the bug sometime in the future you can uninstall the mod.

How do I check for homelessness?

They generally live in parks. You click on them and it tells you they're homeless. There's no overlay to let you know how many in the population. I read to delete all parks and have buses leading out of town. It worked for me and the crime rate also went down. The Satellite UpLink solves the lack of entertainment.

Give them more parks so they can stay in the city while your improvements to education and jobs develop.

Why turn your back on them when they just want a job and home in the city they love? Seriously.

Because I wanna avoid spamming my city with 6x6 low rent housing blocks. plus I dont really have the space to do so anyway.

don't really know.. there isn't like a stat that shows you. They just hang around in the streets.

I'm honestly surprised there isn't a "Housing First" policy you can set up for your city where they just get a low rent apartment for free. Considering it's Finnish developers and they're pretty big on that in Finland

That would be a welcome addition,
Until then I'm still convinced that the vanilla game teases the player to find real life ways to deal with the problem and make it a net gain for all.

The changes I made to my vanilla city has all but eliminated homeless unemployment and made it very hard for me to find any homeless people and when I do they have a job now and expect will find a home shortly.

The cost to me was several hundred thousand in population (likely homeless) which I expect will return over time. I just don't need them to come back as homeless so education and jobs becomes more important right now.

Just because they are still in the city should tell us they want to be here and will eventually accept the education, job and home you offer them. Kicking them out with a mod helps no one even less so the player using it.

I just ignore it for now.
I did full investigation on this and for my city, THEY eventually move out, find a job and keep working AS homeless, and or they die of old age out in the streets.

I actually feel sad. LOL.

Anyways um, they don't hurt the city. They just dwindle slowly till the end of life and still do stuff randomly. Some just stand there till they die.

Yes that function takes care of it.

The worst thing to do is mod the function out of the game.
