Default maps starting zone since eco 2.0
IMO some of the default maps need a different starting zone, or just larger, as since the new economy patch some of them have barely enough land area in the starting tile to make it feasible to expand in any meaningful way.

IIRC, you can use the 529 Tiles mod to enable the ability to select where your first 9 tiles are, then remove the mod & you should still be able to proceed without affecting achievements (if that's a concern).

That's one way of doing it, but I am more looking to suggest that the devs consider making the default maps more approachable for new players etc as they will no doubt bounce off it within two hours leaving a negative review and a refund in their wake XD

I agree. Maps should be looked at again in light of the econ patch.

Or make a possibility to choose to play without tile upkeep in Vanilla game without having to unlock all tiles at the beginning.

I think tile upkeep is a good way of soft forcing the player to create a dense centre area in the beginning which slowly spreads out. In some cases though, I forget the name of the maps in particular, half of the start tile is water and so it is therefor twice as difficult to get going here than on other maps where the tile is all land or at least mostly.

All they need to do is like move the start tile, et voila. job done, happy campers, everybody take another holiday.

OR, of course, some indication at map selection of how much buildable area the start tile has (without having to destroy the map with the landscape tool) and therefor how difficult a start the map has, would be rather useful and at least transparent for the user.

I'd be making a profit on my city that I spent months on if there was no Tile Upkeep. Feels like it should be fixed if the suggestion is to turn it off.

you cant expect them to fix the broken parts of their game and have a city, that was built in a broken version of the game, still function in the updated version.
Just start again. Unless ofc you bought the game just to build one city and then uninstall :?
