Is Paradox down?
I tried to get into the game today, but it's not letting me. Skyve won't log in to Paradox, and when I start the game from Steam, I'm able to launch the launcher, but then hitting "Play" in the Paradox launcher gives me the banner pages and then the game just stops and I'm back at the desktop.

Anyone know what's going on?

I had no problems starting the game today

Strange stuff. I had Steam verify the files, but I can't get it to start, and Skyve still won't login to Paradox. So I can't disable mods to see if something there is a problem (can't get to the main menu in game, and Skyve won't connect...). I've opened a ticket with Paradox; hopefully that gets some results....

no problems with updating mods, no problem with accessing pdx website.
Game starts without problems as well.

looks like you have some kind of weird firewall, DNS or routing problem. Maybe it's a problem by your Internet Service Provider.
Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect your router or do some kind of port reset ?

I wonder if it could be some sort of VPN issue?

I tried turning off my VPN (which, BTW, has been running all along and hasn't been a problem in the past), but it made no difference. Things are still broken.... 🙁

I gave up on the launcher a long time ago, so I just use the exe to open it. It worked last night, but now when the game opens, it shows the loading screen then crashes after five or so seconds.

Yeah, that's what I've been getting. The Launcher gets out of the way once you hit play and the game executes. I get the logos, then the loading screen with the spinning circles that last for about five-ish seconds, and then I'm right back to the desktop with no error messages.

I personally think there's some kind of authentication error going on, because as mentioned in my original post, Skyve won't log in to Paradox, and I'd be willing to guess that at the loading screen in the game, that's when it might be trying to authenticate so it knows what mods I have and all that. (Just a guess based on these symptoms.)

I opened a ticket with Paradox, and they want me to just unsubscribe from all mods, and then completely remove the game from my system and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. Golly, won't *that* be fun... 🥴😋

I guess I have a little project for later today.

ExecutiveMattR43, if you're still having that issue where the game just stops and you're back at the desktop from the "loading" screen, you might want to open up a ticket with them as well. If they're getting multiple reports of people having the same problem, it might get their attention....

Well, unsubscribing from everything, uninstalling, deleting, etc., and then re-installing and adding all the mods back seems to have fixed it. Pretty convoluted way of doing it, but it worked. 🤷‍♂️😋

Sorry for replying like a week later but I basically just uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it went back to normal, pretty sure it was just a corrupted mod or something.

It's because of the Crowdstrike update.

And nobody asks the obvious question: "why do I have to be online for a city builder game?". (a bit deja vu asking that question... there was some other city builder game with the same problem...)

Players of this game really seem to have accepted anything at this point. xD

Uhm, nonsense. Nobody asks that question because the game is playable offline.

Why even post complete misinformation?

I have had the power go out here on several occasions recently and it's one of the games I appreciate being able to play when the power goes out.

When my power goes out I run a generator but the internet is normally disconnected due to trees taking down the lines.....

The only thing you're not able to do is Sync cloud saves. That's all.

That's interesting - I hadn't thought to play it offline. Useful to know if my web connection goes down.
So, if it doesn't actually HAVE to be online,, it begs the question - what on earth is Steam doing sending and receiving so much data all the time?

In before...

You have to buy the online connection DLC to be able to play.
