Pathfinding algorithm visualization - A* (A star)
Visualization

How hard would it be to simulate a city full of citizens and vehicles? Theres a lot of discussion in the city builder video game community about how resource intensive this might be. My belief is that, with some creativity, a team could simulate a city the size of, say, New York, on a reasonably powerful gaming PC.

Game already uses A* it has to, because it is assigning values to traffic volume, road speed etc..

Generally pathfinding is not very resource intensive. They added an extra step that allows them to redo a pathfind if they've waited for x amount of minutes (like accidents etc).

Yeet still traffic ALWAYS takes the first exit. I can have several exits into my city and the use the first. Regardless of the location or road type. Someone PLEASE fix this.

Just an update: I just watched traffic leave the highway, go around the round about and get back on the highway, going the original direction, just on the other side of the intersection. No-one uses that section of highway. Go Fig.

That is broken pathfinding. There is a section of your highway that doesnt get seen as an option. Delete and rebuild a few sections after interchange. Somewhere between where they get off and where they get back on is issue
