update refusing to install

I restarted Steam, seemed to solve the problem.

SOLUTION: I found out why my update froze. Disc Space. Steam doesn't tell you specifically. It's only shows in game files and settings.

It's 53 GB update so gotta check that to be ok.

It is not a 53GB update. It is a 1.8GB update. The total size of your game files is 53GB. STEAM and Paradox and CO like to know your game file sizes, it tells them if there are mods in your game files folder and can see if you've added other things if your game folder is larger than the vanilla size. But then it is no secret that STEAM records and reports all game files sizes and locations and complete contents and tracks them closely.

If nothing else works, uninstall the game in your Library and then restart STEAM. Wouldn't hurt to restart your computer, too. Then download the game again. Keep your saved games!

That's what I would recommend as well.. or let steam to check the integrity of (non existant) files. Maybe this already helps as well. Maybe not.

If there is no game because the data had been deleted manually (and the windows registry says it's still there), the updater cannot find anything to update.
