black screen at startup

Hi,
I haven't played CS2 for several months. But recently when I tried to reopen the game, it won't start. All I see is a black screen with only mouse cursor movable. There is no sound as well. The game worked fine several months ago. Has anyone encountered similar issues as me? What is your solution?
p.s. I reinstalled the game and verified the game integrity.

Vanilla only, no mods installed? Be it code mods or asset packs?

on the paradox launcher, there's a 'down arrow' next to the "play" button, click the arrow and choose the 'no mods' option and see if that helps - if it does, you'll have to go to your appdata folder, find the CS2 folder in there and empty it out to clear down old mods and stuff

Thank you, yes it's vanilla only. I have no mods installed. Been reinstalled a few times but still no help. However I got it resolved by copying the install file from another pc. For some reason, the directly downloaded file seems having something wrong. But thank you anyway.

Thank you for the tips, I don't have any mods subscribed and it's a totally new PC. Been reinstalled a few times but still no help. However I got it resolved by copying the install file from another pc. For some reason, the directly downloaded file seems having something wrong.

Maybe you're suffering from the black screen nvidia debacle. I'm sure you can find an article on it and see if applies.

For me when I start the game, there is a longish pause where the screen is black. It is just the game loading for some reason it takes a few seconds, then the PDX and CO logo's show up and then all is well.
