I know there is a mod to change building colors, but I am always hesitant to add ones I don't feel are totally necessary. Something in the base game would definitely be welcome.
#1tie - Asset editor
Be positive all you want but this thread will be even more useless than the ones on the PDX forum.
2. Fixing of gameplay/simulation bugs
3. Fixing of the graphical engine issues: global illumination is broken (sparkling trees) and all the flickering/shimmering shadows)
4. Bring back animations for service buildings/service vehicles/parks/sport areas etc
5. Fixing of all missing snow layers so it looks decent like in all other building games with snow
6. Bikes
7. New and more textures for farms and big industry. Grass sprites like CS1
8. Filters for low/middle/high density
9. Fencing mode for the new line tool
10. Better UI with more data about your city so problems could be more easily detected and fixed
11. Asset editor
After all that is implemented I might spend money again in the future on CO-developed products and DLC. Otherwise never again.
2 - Reworking the 'simulation' so your choices matter and affect your citizens, as well as realistic traffic management and people not choosing to take a taxi when other public transport is going the same way. While doing this also keep in mind performance and try to improve it.
3 - Better traffic AI, also more road options, like 10 and 12 lanes roads or toll booths, even add automatic tolls which are more common now.
4 - Bringing back features such as bikes, service animations and fixing natural disasters + adding more like the original game (there's only two and the tornado doesn't do anything and looks crappy), none affect your city and you don't need things like shelters.
5 - Fixing the water, the CS1 water was much better and the water physics in this game are very annoying, and now there's not anything you can use to deal with floods such as water pumping station or whatever it was called.
6 - Fixing visual glitches which have existed since the alpha/early content creator videos. Why when zooming in to a street that is near a wall it will go crazy and the ground invisible? This also includes tunnels. Please keep in mind performance as well and try ti improve upon it. (I don't play on snow maps but that is an issue as well)
7 - Quality of life changes like full implementation of the line tool and other small things like tabs for different zoning densities (I know there is a mod but things like this should be in the base game.)
8 - Make the game more visually appealing, maybe grass (I don't know how good it would look in the game's visual style) but most importantly the ability to change the looks of the game not just in the photo editor but save that for the whole time you are playing.
9 - Make infographs have more useful data and analytics so you can improve your city and take everything into account.
10 - More service vehicle options, especially public transport, as well as the ability to choose between different themed vehicles on ALL service buildings, for maximum customisation and to make cities feel unique. Maybe even some more features, such as displaying public transport lines/destinations on the vehicles, or below the vehicle selection, another menu for selecting a pattern to put on the vehicle, could be as simple as a straight line, or more intriguing as triangles.
11 - Improve industries. More options like in CS1, not just place it and make a circle, and you can place things inside it instead of only one thing randomly appearing.
12 - Slightly more building options, such as elevated train stations and things from the Trains content pack from CS1. Also other options for recreation and not just parks. (Like pools, gymnasiums, attractions). I also think the free sports dlc from CS1, where teams actually play and the stadiums are not empty, people have to go there and use public transport and watch the games.
13 - Asset editor release and improving map editor and code mods to all be more stable, plus improving ease of use for the map editor.
Bonus - Due to the lack of assets, the preorder 'landmarks' pack should be given to everyone as an apology to the state it was released in at launch and everyone that refunded it and didn't get it because of how bad the game was and still is.
(No I don't just want free stuff, I pre-ordered the ultimate scam edition and already have the landmarks pack. I just think it's not fair to everyone.)
All of these would be great additions but most importantly just making the game fun to play and way less frustrating on things that shouldn't need to be.
I loved Cities Skylines 1 and was very excited when this game was announced, pre-ordering it for my birthday. I played it for a couple hours at launch. I didn't like it but had played enough that I couldn't refund it. I trusted colossal order would fix it because they had done great with CS1, but their pace was slow and their communications harsh.
I don't think they have done enough as they could have for the past year and a bit, and even now their communication is severely lacking. I would appreciate more transparency and more updates in 2025. Hopefully they do all these things and more.
+1
