Do we know if Paradox/CO are aware?
It was working here until about 50 thousand inhabitants, then it started to close, exactly as you described, "In fact it just "quits to the desktop" very suddenly (no warning - no error message)", every 20 or 30 minutes at most. Does anyone know how we could contact Paradox and inform them of this problem? I believe that if more people reported the same problem they would pay more attention to the case.
My system is a recent i9-14900K 24-core [32 logical processors] along with a 4080. I have been successful in minimizing the more frequent crashing in the latest patch by setting the 'Cities2.exe' process affinity to avoid P-cores 4 & 5 [plus their logical pair 12 & 13]. I was able to build a stable-running city with a population of 1.2 million. Here is the advanced command string in my launch properties:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start /affinity ffffcfcf "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities Skylines II\Cities2.exe" %command%
This game has been out a whole year now. And I still cant play it longer than an hour this year.
♥♥♥♥ you Paradox! And ♥♥♥♥ you Collossal Order! I will NEVER buy another Collosal / Paradox game again.
Yes, the base game is probably okay enough in relation to how it's programmed but the integration with mods is a catastrophe which I thought was the aim to fix with this game.
And many think there are too many negative comments, but as you indicate, regardless of power in your computer, the issues/crashes are sooo random, over a year has passed, there aren't any real alternatives and there are so many things from the modding community CSI they have just been arrogant about so I understand the frustration out there. And it's not about wanting this game to fail, it's the opposite, I enjoy this game when it works with mods, but playing the base game for us that are more interested in designing a city is not an alternative . It's simply too boring placing the same school, same police station etc over and over again especially considering the simulation is not very good either.
From what i understand (a lot of) the recent crashes are related to either the creator packs and / or DLC.... a lot of us crashing are on vanilla or only running the official packs.. Didn't crash before, crashing constantly ever since...
The game turning slower and slower with bigger cities of course does relate to the power of the computer, i could play OK until reaching around 300-350k citizens, then it's the same "unplayable" thing (before the update, now it's constantly crashing even with less than 5k citizens)..
I'd claim if that part was programmed / working as intended, console players would've joined us on this "ride" already...
