Competition incoming for Colassal Order - Get your act together CO
A new city builder game has been in development. It was mentioned in CityPlannerPlays' stream and It looks quite promising. It's called Citystate Metropolis and I think its worth keeping an eye on.

Oh, wow... It seems by the end of this year CS2 will indeed meet the same end as SimCity 2013; and CO will most likely follow Maxis into the grave. Well done, CO and Paradox!

And congrats to the guy who is making the game. It looks nice but more importantly, I believe he can deliver his promises.

"On a side note, I believe that one can’t create 'the most realistic city builder ever' without addressing meaningfully socioeconomic issues: the relationship between education level and income, income disparities, spatial segregation, etc. After all, these games do shape how we think about cities!"

Take that CO :)
Been waiting to hear news about the game, so happy to finally get some!
It was only a matter of time before someone new entered this space CO and Cites skylines 2 are history.

Well, there are quite some months to go until we see, if this is really a competition and a nice game. It does not make sense to get hyped before the fact.

I have read the part about the map editor in that game. According to that, it is not going to give the same freedom in making a map as CS2 does.

And there is no workshop for the existing citystate games, and nothing mentioned about modding possibility. So I doubt it will get a really good game.

One thing folks should do is read City State 2's Steam forum, also City State 2 never had and still does not have a Steam Workshop.
So whether this new game has modding support / Steam Workshop will be interesting.

We'll see about that. Anyway, the map editor in CS II is still a mess and may stay a mess, as you very well know since I've seen you post on the map makers discord. There's a reason the CS1 top map makers don't care about the CS II editor (unless they're paid like sidai was for the official region packs maps). Even Uncle R0N wrote again this week he still preferred to make maps for CS1.

No mention of modding, you say? So I doubt you're a really good reader:
there are still major parts of the game that need to be completed. (...) modding support (...)

I would temper that hype or have you forgotten how excited some folks got for Cities Skylines 2, only to be disappointed.

"Some folks"? You mean a million buyers? ;) I agree with you about not to be too excited. But no reason either to predict a poor game 6 months before the first EA like Caprea does.

About the modding support: again, read the whole page, for god's sake.

Yes, the map making in CS2 has still problems. But an editor with the limits described does not look better.

The last games did not have mod support. And now, this one should have?
But you are right, I forgot that at the moment they talk about the intention of modding support. Well, we will see in the future what really comes.

I hope this new game does well, but after Cities Skylines 2 I am wary. When you read City State 2's Steam forum, you get an idea of what might come with this new iteration of the series. Yeah saw that after about modding support, will wait and see how this new City State game fairs.

Wow. I just got through checking out City States 2. Again. WOW! and all that developed by just one guy. Amazing. I'm on board. Appears that it will appease my city building craving. :steamhappy:
