The bus system is broken and the devs will never fix it?
I first started playing this game on release and I gave up about a month later until the bus system which I now know is still not fixed.

The Problem: As I found out from a recent post someone placed that the problem of all transport using the bus lanes so I knew that had not been fixed so realised I would have to try and do what I did last time which was to separate the bus lanes from the road network to see if that worked now (I had problems with this too last time round)

So I placed the bus depot and then placed bus lane from it surrounding my city keeping it separate from the road network. I then placed bus stops and routed routes between each. Now it's saying there are no buses available for the routes (there are only 2) and I would have to build more depots which is another problem that happened first time round so that's another bug

This could be happening because the bus lanes are not connected to the main road network.

So, until the problem of the bus system is fixed, buses are a waste of time unless people have worked out a work around to rectify the problem which is why I wrote this post.

Also works with buses.
Did you ever use buses or did you just miss out that system and use metro system which is something I might do actually

Nothing wrong with the buses. Screenshots would help, but for example depot must be connected to road network for mail and garbage to work.

Bus lanes have never been advertised as bus only lanes either. So no bug there. They work as bus priority, meaning that all other traffic is allowed to use them for turning right for example.

I got 50 lines, 3 depots and everything works fine.

I actually use everything. Subways for "diagonal, and long" travel, Tram for long Straight lines. And bus for short distances. I even use planes for very very long distances on the map between parts of the city and ofcourse regular Trains for fast and long city traveling.

In Eurograd it's like that: buses left right, tram north south, subway diagonally and trains for long, fast journeys at 3 stops

Do you have a screenshot of your bus route?

I remember that there was a bug that was later fixed where regular traffic would use the separated bus/taxi roads. But at least in my present city, most of the traffic in the pink bus lanes are buses, taxis and other service vehicles. At intersections, just like IRL in a number of places, turns are allowed. But I would like to see how your route is laid out!
I don't see the problems you are noting. I tried creating an exclusive bus network disconnected from regular network roads and as long as a bus depot is also present on that network, it works fine. You noted this and if you meant if the bus depot is not connected to the exclusive network, then yeah there would be no way for the buses to get there.

Secondly, even if the bus network is semi exclusive by assigning it as bus only lanes and connected to the main network, I still find that most of the times other cars except for taxis and service vehicles do not use it.

I'd like to see how the road is laid out as well. Curious to see the issues you're having.

Btw, Der... that's awesome you are using the wider vanilla walking path as an elevated tram station. I use regular roads and never occurred to me to use that instead sometimes.

I didn't even know you could do that! I should try it!
