Map size question
Why is there still no mod that allows you to build the entire map instead of 529 tiles?

I haven't seen any information about this yet. The only thing is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQqFPdSmbOU&t=669s and only in alpha state mod.

He is testing a first alpha version, whith limited functionality, so far as I understand that ... but I do not know how it is going. But it seems it will take some more time

Why is it so complicated?
Because the map is not one map but more two maps, with different resolutions.
When making a map, only in the inner 526 one can make a river with water flow, a lake above the sea height and so on.
On the part outside of the 526 in the map editor one can only change the height of the terrain and nothing else.

True, and sadly none of our old saves will ever be compatible with the upgraded area. I last read that even the existing game must be upgraded therefore killing off ALL existing save files.
I say GO FOR IT, bigger maps are far more important than my old saves.
Alright, so, still need to wait until modmakers will do this.

And the developers to enable it. That step has been stalled for over a year of optimisation enhancement and likely take another year before any new common computer will be available to handle it.
I wouldn't expect any great things of CS2 until they find a way to fully optimize CS1. Been 10 years and they haven't come close yet. CS2 has always been and will always be a plain and simple money grab. No one has the skill or the will to optimize either version of CS.
