U-turns are killing my city
Every time I have a traffic jam somewhere is because the traffic is doing a U-turn somewhere.

I plan my city with 2x3 arteries, and either 2x1, 2x2, or asymmetric entry roads depending on the density of the block.

I can't count how many times the traffic will clog the turning lane of the 2x3 road, only to do a u-turn on the block entry road and go back to the 2x3 road, a thing they could have done by going straight instead.

I had to convert 80% of my multiple-lane roads to divider roads to prevent cars from suddenly deciding they needed to go the other way even though they had been on a fluid road for dozens of meters.

Rotaries/Roundabouts help? Maybe not, not sure.

My city has a rotary at almost every intersection. I have zero traffic. The city looks like it was made by a child with a crayon drawing circles with lines between them.

But theres no traffic :buzzed:

You can try not allowing left turns at the crossroad, i use it alot. Go under roads, then road services, then you have a no left turn sign, then click on the crossroad.

In mid and late game they are completely useless and bog your traffic down. The mid street u-turns and pedestrian jaywalking make the game feel so bad

Be nice if those tools actually work. However they don't. Your civs don't care about your rules.

I already disallowed left turns, but this is ignored a lot.

I only have roundabouts at important intersections, on smaller intersections, and in high-density areas, they cause more damage than they solve.
Roundabouts suck. Not really, they can work in small areas and towns, but citiy traffic eat roundabouts like they're donuts and craps them out all over the road.

There is too big a delay with cars entering the roundabout after cars already in the roundabout go by

I think they u-turn at nodes like cs1. So a couple cheeky fixes could be; placing a node where they usually u-turn and put no left turns ( by demolishing the road, bring the new road up until that point and build it there then extend out the road ) or if its a straight road w/o intersections you could demolish and build the whole road at once. It's helped a little bit in my city but we may have to wait for better road tools to fix this.

I already gave up sometimes i think i should just make a one way road over the whole city

I will not argue that there is a problem with the roundbouts, but from what I saw in my game and from living in a big city they simulate heavy traffic pretty well

Roundabouts does jam and get stuck as well.

That's already what I do, and it doesn't help.
And I noticed something worse.

Sometimes the traffic goes to the turning lane, begin to turn, and immediately go back to the main road, while they should have stayed in the two middle lanes.

We gotta get the traffic management mod from cs1! Can't wait to see that come over, would solve a lot of problems

A sign to forbid U-turns in the traffic tools would be nice. I also have plenty of stupid U-turns messing up my traffic...

Especially if I have a forbidden left-turn... then they go right and then do an instant U-turn, making more of a mess than the left-turn would have made.
