People walking on the highways. :)
Is this a bug? Why do people walk on the highways? I know that can happen in real life sometimes, but there are a lot of them. Lol. PS: I'm fixing the exit. :)

It also happens if a vehicle despawns. That's how people get the large crowds walking on the railroad tracks. The train de-spawned and dumps out the passengers to walk.

When it happens to cims in cars, they can actually lose their car permanently and they have to go to a place that sells them to get another one.

This has been reported as a bug and as a gameplay issue on the Paradox forums.
It has been marked "As Desired" and "Closed" in that order.
End of discussion. As far as Paradox is concerned.
Please... discuss...

This is awful. It's worse than C:S. How can that be?
And they just tell us "this behaviour is as desired and the discussion is closed."
Okay. Thanks.
F you too.

I think what happened is that I bulldozed the overpass and highway and then redid them which is what caused this. They seem to be exiting the highways now.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I discovered in my test city that there are certain medium and high density residential buildings that have their own internal parking garages for residents and unfortunately, their driveways can get blocked by parked vehicles.

This causes a vehicle on a simple two lane road to get permanently stuck because someone parked their motorbike in front of the driveway and now they are blocking all traffic.

Only workaround is to use medium roads or large roads on all medium and high density residential roads. At least then if a vehicle gets stuck, the others behind can path around it by changing lanes or just use wide sidewalks so no more street parking.

This is almost totally realistic. Big buildings always have at least a four-lane road out front. Medium density can get by with a small road, but it gets really busy.
I know entire blocks of six and ten story buildings on two-way two-lane roads in Chicago and it's traffic nightmares except late at night.
But downtown is entirely three-lane one-way or six-lane two-way, and West Whacker along the river is a six-lane one-way on top of a five-lane one-way the other direction, and Michigan Ave is a four-lane one-way on top of another the other direction.
I was hoping I would get to build a decently accurate Michigan Avenue and West Whacker in C:S2 but it's actually possible and even easier on C:S with mods.

The main thing is, if you really want to make sure driveways for medium and high density buildings never get blocked, you have to put in the wide sidewalks to remove the option for street parking.
^ That's almost worth awarding points. STEAM needs to put in a free and easy + or upvote button.
EDIT: F it - award given.
