Edit: nope, that fix is for a crash.
Even worse, no matter where traffic flow stalls, it will show this behavior when traffic is free again. The traffic jam just will not solve
Yes, biggest problem for me is that the road can work perfectly fine for 10hrs and then suddenly this happens, and 9/10 times its on a highway with alot of traffic, the simulation really struggles with this untill traffic is normal again.
I think I found a solution, but its not good news.
Seems like building ONLY straight highways solves the problem, and they need to be buildt for as long stretches as possible.
Also: lesser lanes = lesser problems, so scale down the amount of lanes as soon as possible after interchanges.
Make sure your nodes are far away from the next exit etc
Hope they fix this in the next patch, its game breaking with a pop of 185k when traffic suddenly jams up
1. Use BIGGER roads, Bigger highways and make sure you have more space.
2. Make sure you plan ahead and put industry, wastes and ect where it needs room so they don't go through city just to get back.
3. Don't overkill on the Round Abouts, these round things will speed everything so fast that the traffic will jam eventually. Use common sense and build accordingly to the SIMS destinations they intend. That includes leaving city too. Give them a nearbye exit to ride on high way OUT!
4. Don't over build in a small area. I see too many cool looking maps that Don'T WORK! They look metro and COOL from afar but their traffic is garbage in other words, they've failed. Keep the BIG buildings farther apart and have more parking and city transportation to help lower car volumes.
Most crappy jams and weird thingd happen if your traffic routes are not good. Mine they no longer do that since I've added the proper destinations, routes and given them more options on the road and highways.
About to hit 200k pop. I'm excited to see 1 Mil. Doing it without cheats and mods tough.
So this needs a patch
Untill then my save on 350ish population is unplayable, because as soon as I fix one, 2 more have already occured and my simulation speed reduces to 0.5x or less
Whats sort of funny about this, most of the time that is how traffic jams start on highways in real life. How many times have you been stuck in traffic and when you get to the end nothing was there. Just someone hitting the brakes. Maybe that is actually working as intended but possibly too much and needs to be tweaked?
There are lots of good builder games around that have 80-90% Steam user ratings.
The developer's promise was to improve CS:1 traffic with the launch of this game.
This game currently has 58% Steam user rating.
trucks get stuck in industry buildings..... cause massive back ups and crash the game.
Best game screenshot of the year, Biffa would be proud !
LOL
This is the most realistic the game gets.
