Hardware actually needed to run Cities skylines II smoothly
Hardware needed to run Cities skylines II smoothly at least in 2k resolution (if not in 4k) especially if you like to make big cities?I'm thinking to build a new pc with 1700-1800 euros.I'm playing city/base builder games at most and some strategy and racing games.

i5 13600k RTX 4070 is a great well priced rig.

I got a few cities over 2 million with that proc and only an RTX 3060 which is right in your price window.

A high end CPU with a minimum of 8 cores and a High end GPU.

Just totally avoid Intel 13th and 14th gen CPU'S. These CPUs have a design flaw and have high rates of failure.

They do, but only with the following models:

13th Generation Intel Core
i5-13600K
i5-13600KF
i7-13700
i7-13700F
i7-13700K
i7-13700KF
i9-13900
i9-13900F
i9-13900K
i9-13900KF

14th Generation Intel Core
i5-14600K
i7-14700
i7-14700F
i7-14700K
i7-14700KF
i9-14900
i9-14900F
i9-14900K
i9-14900KF

That looks to be most of the higher power desktop models, but there are others available, and it is only the desktop CPU's that are troubled by this - laptop CPU's aren't having any problems.
The following 13 @ 14th gen I7 and I9 models are apparently a slightly different build, and are not impacted by the problem:
Core i9-13900KS
Core i9-13900T
Core i7-13790F
Core i7-13700KF
Core i7-13700T
Core i9-14900KS
Core i9-14900T
Core i7-14790F
Core i7-14700T
This info is from Dell, who so far look to be about the only ones who have "named names", and from Wikipedia, by identifying those models that aren't problem children.
The Dell article on Google is titled "Industry-wide Issue with Intel Core 13th and 14th Generation i5, i7, and i9 Processors " if you want to search for it and verify what I've said.
Wish I could understand what everyone's saying lol.

I have a 5900x cpu with a 7900xt gpu and 32gb ram at 3200mhz, play at 1440p ultra and the game runs at a smooth 40 to 70 fps (depending on where i am in the citie) the game feels really responsive, no stuttering or anything.
That said, i play the game on a Linux os, Linux Mint, and it runs way way beter than on Windows (trust me, i played on both Windows and Linux). Graphically the game looks way beter on Linux

7950X3D is an excellent choice and will be more than capable.

For GPU a I would choose one of the following depending on budget and if Nvidia specific features are required.

AMD 7800 XT, 7900 XT or 7900 XTX
Nvidia 4070, 4080 or 4090
EAP609 Sep 5, 2024 @ 8:10am
i7-13700k with 4090. Runs flawless.

Use Wine or Proton, or a virtual machine in Linux.
Installing Steam on Linux using the Linux distro's build in "app" installer.

But it runs very nicely on GeForce Now if you do have a potato.
