Large road to Highway
Hey all. I started up a new city yesterday but ran into an issue. I started it on the Cloudy Bay map mod, it's a pretty nice map but the problem is that instead of a main highway already going through, the author made it out of a large 6 lane road. To make it a 6 lane highway I need to split it, but I really don't want to have to rebuild it. Plus that would only work in the tiles that I buy. Is there an easier way other then rebuilding the whole thing to make it a split highway? And is there a way to do the whole thing without having to buy every single tile it's in?

I think you answered your own question. You cannot build on tiles you do not own. In order to get to the edge of the map you must buy the tiles or (Gawd!) use mods.

Right, I figured a mod, but not going to lie, the Paradox mod site sucks for finding things. So was hoping someone would have said a mod that could do either of the things I mentioned.

Anarchy lets you build outside the tiles you own.

Stick with vanilla, buy the tiles. The benefit is you learn more about how the game works. Then later experiment with mods when out of Beta. Bonus is you get the achievements and the thrill that comes with each.

I regularly use anarchy to modify the existing highways outside the tiles I'm using. It's one of if not the most important mod I use anyway so it's always installed.

In CS1 the map editor made sense so in a situation like you described I would edit the map first but, here we are.

Yes, there is a way in Vanilla. But, only before you start your city.

Go to the editor, load the map, change the street, save the changed map under a new name, and start your city on this map.

Awesome suggestion!
