insane performance problems
Hello,

I started playing Cities skylines 2 at its release and I never had performance problems. Till now, I love this game but I cant play it, it is so laggy and I always have 10 FPS. I dont understand, I never changed my graphics and at release I had no problems. I dont understand why CO isnt doing something to make the performance better, because its terrible. The game has so much potential for future, but they are ruining it.

Have you tried it without mods? If not you may be pleasantly surprised with a clean install.

having *always* 10 fps is indeed extremely low especially after all those fps improvements they implemented since release.
Yes, they actually improved fps. Not much, but they came way closer to their own goal of 30fps minimum.

If you are still having 10 fps in all situations,
you either never updated the game since release
or your GPU drivers are completely outdated (maybe using only the standard windows ones)
or your GPU is in general too weak
and/or old or you are simply using too high ingame graphics settings.

But without telling your computer specs we can only guess.

Another possibility is, you have some background process which sucks all CPU/GPU power (crypto miner ?, trojan?), so there are not enough resources for the game left.

At least tell us what your CPU is, model and model number...

where do i see the cpu model and model number??

The key question is...What is your population? I can infer that it used to be good and now is too laggy.
It is highly likely you have reached your hardware limits. When your pop reaches a certain limit it will overwhelm your CPU. The population at which you reach this point varies depending on your hardware.

i started new city and i have like 1000-2000 population
but it is still laggy

I've a 13900f, 32G RAM with an RTX 4070 TI Super and absolutely no lag with 700k pop.
My previous mid game PC from 5 years back was awful for Cities Skylines 2 though.
Cities Skylines 2 is very demanding with mid rigs.

Can you post a video of your city? It would be nice to see it in action

I've made quickly something with Shadowplay to show you how i move around in the city.

I play in ultrawide 3440 x 1440 x 165hz
With DLSS activated max quality
With everything else in High
The only thing i did though is not only put VSYNC in game but fixed manually to max 60 IPS in my geforce panel because i did had a lot of return to desktops with the game before that. That was my main issue.
To be fair in game i run around 20-30 FPS max and i have not particulary searched to go max graphic quality with mods or anything.
It's playable as it is.

Apart from inherent performance issues with this game and possibly other issues/factors causing poor performance, I find even 3x frame generation using Lossless Scaling for a game like CS2 has been doing wonders for me. I can't believe I only found out about this recently. Even as low as actual fps locked to 20 and set to 3x yielding 60fps perceived consistently works great for CS2.

Yes, in my opinion most people complaining have no graphic card able to use DLSS.
I know cause my previous card did not and i had awful lag before reaching 50k pop.

I get 10fps on 3x speed in my city now, i have a rtx 3090 and im playing on medium settings (ive got 280 thousand people)

Maybe you started playing on a map that cause very low performance. I tried some map someone created and it put my game at 4 fps.. once I started to play on some other map it was just fine.

maybe this thread helps

If fps is too low it seems that some graphics settings are messed up (for example: power management)

dont blame yourself, its not your rig or anything else . just look to the operators for their reply for ♥♥♥♥ performance
