Game less stable or known issues with mods?
Hi,

Came back to the game after a little break (because of the French pack) and found the game less stable than before. Regularly 'freezing' when just starting the game from steam (not just mod loading, but during the first loadingscreen on startup. Also have gotten sudden ctd when playing. No warning with lagg or drops in fps, just one second builing a road(or anything else really) and next second back to desktop with everything closed. Even quitting to desktop isn't this fast.
Has the game become less stable, or are there mods known for causing this issue?
I'm useing Anarchy (should be baked in to the game as standard), Lane connector, find it, and move it, and a bunch of decal mods. I use skyve to check if stuff doesn't conflict and as far as I can see that's not the case for me.

It seems like a bit of both. A lot of it is people who don't bother to understand the basics of how modding works in games like this (and the risks you take, including that code changes in patches will typically affect some mods and you may have to wait til that mod is updated). But I have seen plenty of people saying they do not have any mods/have disabled all mods, but are still having stability issues. So I don't know what the problem is there.

I've crashed twice in the past 2 hours on a new city. Only thing i've added was the Traffic mod and the new French pack.

+1. since yesterday I've had 2 random crashes, never crashed before. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I lost 3 hours of game play, realizing auto-save wasn't on... (now it is though.)

My modded cities are unplayable. Thank goodness and spare hardware that I use a different account and computer to experiment with mods. I hope one day i can start posting about the experience but so far its nothing but a Slow Glitchy CrashTacular mess!

My feeling/guess is that the patch while fixing many bugs also introduced new ones, including in vanilla game.

I have noticed no new bugs in either of my vanilla cities.

Having said that both seem to be "stuck" at their respective population levels since the last patch. So my 3 million city is still 3 million and my 2.1 million city is still.....well 2.1 million.

I've seen this happen before at lower population levels where my hardware just runs out of "Steam". But.....wakes up some time later and packs on another million.

The best news is both cities are running faster and smoother and better than they did at 600K a year ago.

Regarding efforts to optimise, In my experience, they are doing a few things right.

It's only a vague guess;
maybe some of the increased instabilities since the update/patch/pack could probably linked back to the old intel CPU issue.
I'm pretty sure lots of people are still not aware of that problem at all and therefore have not updated their BIOS with the workaround patch (if it is even available).

To me it seems the game has become more resource hungry which could trigger now crashes on those machines which were not yet affected by the Intel CPU bug.

So, if anyone here who has a sudden increase in crashs since the updates and running a rig with an Intel 13th or 14th generation and who has not yet updated the BIOS, please do it now and check if the crashs disappear.

Same here. No problems before (even just after release). Now after downloading the Paris update, it crashed the first time ever, and I can't even open the game anymore.

I have not been able to load my gamesaves without insta crash to windows, saves that I started just after paris update. Unplayable. I guess I have to disable all mods eventho they're greenflagged in game and test from there...

After the update, I neglected to disable mods in one of my cities. The game ran but I couldn't get the city to expand at all. I disabled the mods (I should have done that before!) and loaded the city. I got some weird behaviour and a couple of crashes. Looking at the Player.log I saw quite a few errors so I started a new city with updated mods and I have no crashes and no weird behaviour. I think that mods can break a save game if you have used them before the patch even if you disable them later. I only use Code Mods and I think the Asset Mods are just too disruptive to use.
I'm only at 90k in my new city but it runs as smooth as a baby's b*m. The French Pack is great and I don't see the problems that others are reporting.

That won't be the issue on my end, I have amd for both gpu and cpu. Ever since I downloaded the French pack this started happening. I'm quite sure it's not my pc. Although a bit ageing, other games I can play for hours without issues.
The crashes also happen when starting a brand new city.
