so, they lied about the improved traffic AI right
am i the only one thinking that the traffic AI is worse than cs1?

It's nonfunctional. There may be something better under the hood but it's so filled with bugs it's not working.
I'm finding traffic much easier than CS1 where I was always in a pickle. I could never totally solve issues. If there's a jam in CS2 I seem to be able to fix it relatively quickly. Just my opinion.

Well, cars use now all lanes and sometimes switch lanes - so that's definitely better than in CS1. Therefore: no lie.

They sometimes change route dynamically (have seen this myself with the route highlighter, however, not all route changes made sense), in CS1 they never changed their route and sticked on it from the beginning to the end (except you delete the road between) which causes huge traffic jams on some roads. Therefore: no lie.

However, the behaviour near exit ramps or road crossings is indeed a mess, probably even worse than in CS1. Therefore: a big lie

People moving in with all those taxis cause lots of bulk temporary traffic problems in CS2, we never had this kind of massive sudden movements in CS1. Therefore: a lie.

In total I would say: It's better in some ways, worse in other ways. The AI is definitely different, but not necessarily worse.

To stop the behaviour at junctions make sure the road nodes are well removed from a junction. Move them with MoveIt or redraw the road.
Use the mod to stop external taxis. Finally, use Realistic Parking to stop idiot u-turns!

Of course they did. You know how complicated formula would be for proper traffic calculation when barely anything is simulated in this game as intended ? There is no option for them to make it work.

It makes me sick when I see vehicles changing lanes in the last fraction of a second

I think it is ok, the Traffic AI.
If they change lane constantly and so, it is almost always because there is a traffic jam ahead where they want to go. But they cannot do so in a timely fashion because of the jam.

So what should the poor cims do? How do attrac the attention of the mayor that there is something he should put some effort in to make the traffic flow ahead of them better? Well, looks like lane changing and all that stuff, does catch the attention. Only problem is, the cims cannot put up a banner saying "We are protesting because of the bad traffic management, just look at the jam, how bad the mayor is in those things."

Last second lane changes are caused by short nodes before an intersection. Drivers make their lane choice at the last previous node before an intersection. If it is too close you get snarled up traffic. Either use Move It mod to get node further back, or delete small node and previous one and draw it back. Problem solved. Although it will be messy while they adapt.

It's terrible. Hopefully modders can find a way to improve it.
