Computer overheating
Hi, My computer seems to struggle to stay cool while playing this game, merely loading the game to main menu causes the coollig fans to noticeably rev up, and start pumping out a lot of hot air from my computer after a couple of hours I have to shut my computer down to stop it overheating is this an issue for anyone else?

What are your computer specs and what type of cooling/fans do you have?

Hi my computer uses 13th gen i7-13700f 2.10ghz cpu, 32gb ram, g-force rtx 4070 gpu, tbh I'm not sure about which cooling fans, but my tower has fans on top, below and at the back, 5 in total.

You should probably look at a tutorial on youtube to make sure your fans are spinning in the right direction and the right speed and if you computer or fans are dusty give them a clean. Computers normally get hot playing games though so if it tops out around 70 -80 degrees (I think about 160 or 180 if you're american) it's fine and that's normal (your cpu)

i only have this issue with this game specifically, anything else I've played has never lead to any overheating at all. It starts happening before I've even loaded into a city, starting the game and going it loading to main menu causes the heat from my PC to increase noticeably. is there game settings that could reduce the load its putting on my pc?

Run a program like HWMonitor and see how your CPU and GPU temps and usage are doing. You can find it on Google and there is a free version.

same for me, after the game compiles virtual textures, never using more than around 20% of my 4070 super during this process normally the game then pushes graphics utilisation to 80%+ in the menu. Noticed this around around a week ago

I ran a test on my machine...
Without frame rate limits, CS2 Main menu runs 23% CPU, 46% GPU.
With frame rate limit of 24fps, Main menu runs 5% CPU, 6% GPU.
This app doesn't need to run high frame rates; just try this...
NVIDIA Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Cities: Skylines II (cities2.exe) -> Max Frame Rate: 24 FPS

Run a cpu and gpu benchmark. Likely it's either your cooling, that or the voltages/timings for your cpu

Hi, just tried this, its worked like charm, loaded game no change in heat coming from tower, fans haven't changed speed at all, loaded my biggest city (pop 46000), computer sounds as if i haven't turned on game at all.

Hi thank you,
This also stopped my tower sounding like it was VTOLing off my desk in the menu.
