Industry and Cargo Issues
I have a Cargo Train Terminal built literally adjacent to my main industrial sector. I've been watching it over the past year of gameplay and literally only one business uses it. That is not hyperbole or an exaggeration. One business.

It's a tiny little 2x2 electronics manufacturer. I'll see semi trucks going between it and the cargo terminal. Trains coming and going will have tiny amount of electronics - ostensibly all from this one little business. Spot checking delivery vans around the city and they all - and I mean I haven't found a single exception - they all are coming from or going to this same one little electronics manufacturer. I have other industries all around it. No one else uses the Cargo Trains and no one else trades any other goods that I can see.

And probably related to this, generally speaking industry is incredibly unprofitable. The average hovers around 17%. Meanwhile commercial businesses are consistently at 50%+ profitability.

I am at a total loss here. This has to be a bug right? This is a new city started post Economy patch.

I Started a new city last night after leaving this game for months. constantly in debt. slow new citizen rate. no industry exports or revenue from what i can see.

This seems to be a game bug since economy update. Almost unused freight terminals, only a few trucks on the roads and no exports. The specialized industry such as oil etc. produces only minimally. The only thing that works are your offices with software etc.

That’s pretty much what I’m seeing. Industrial zones only produce at a trickle and never use the Cargo Train. Meanwhile offices are fine.

I tried bulldozing the one industrial building that *was* exporting, and I saw (using extended tooltip) that it had a rent of $0. So it was already bugged in a different way. After I deleted it, a new building came in it’s place with rent being charged, and now nothing at all is exporting.

The reason you all are not seeing them shipping the goods out is because the new update priorities using goods for your own city first I remember them saying, so you will see less being exported unless all their needs are met. My cargo train is constantly shipping stuff out that I am over producing like Oil and Metal. My issue is that no tourists at all in my city and beverages are not being produced at all.

If you want to see the true state of your industry, look under the Production tab on the Economy page. There you'll see whether you are exporting or not.

I'm not seeing any trucks or vans leaving my foresty, farming, oil or ore industry areas. Nothing delivering goods into the city stores or stock industry buildings either.

Then use the management tools to work out whether your produce is being delivered. Use the Production tab on the Economy window, and drill down to resources. If it says that you are producing, and using, then it is a bug, but a bug with the trucks. If it suggests that you're not producing, then it's a bug with Industry and farming. That's why the designers gave us tools to use to follow the progress of the game.

I got a few trucks at the start of the game, delivering odd products to a farm, but haven't seen one for a long time. And since the production tab says my factories and extractors are producing there is definitively something wrong with the trucks

There is 100% a problem with trucks. i have 0 Trucks, not even Vans or anything.
The whole industrial aspect of the game is garbage. I mean look at the specialised zones. just look at it. It so f***** ugly. random buildings just spawn there an the texture dosen't even blend in with the rest of the zone since they were to lazy to put the right ground texture on said buildings. Its heartbreaking at this point

If you install the better tooltip mod you can hover over your industries and see that this is indeed a bug. All industries are in massive debt due to inability to export their resources. You'll find hundreds of tons of materials building up in specialized industry inventories, unable to be moved. Meanwhile your normal industries will be ordering materials from off map regardless of whether or not the inputs are locally produced. This unfortunately looks like a situation where we have to wait on a patch. The good news is that your industries will still pay tax and never go out of business despite the debt.

In the meantime, I would recommend focusing on education and lowing taxes on offices to build those for income instead since they are still working properly. I would also avoid building specialized industry due to the fact that normal industries can't import from them right now anyway.

And THAT should confirm that the lack of trucks has nothing to do with lack of production. It's a game bug for sure, but not one to worry about. The production figures are the important factors - not whether a truck is carrying the goods to market or not.

The production tab says there's production and that some of production is used locally. But as I don't see any trucks loaded with grain/wood/ore/etc leaving the city and as the trade stats have always only show deficits for those products I really do wonder what happens to my pretty large production surplus.
It is common to find one industry with a line of trucks going in and coming out while all the other industries do not.
Look around, you will find ONE industry building with nearly all the truck traffic.

Remember when they touted this? Whatever happened to that?

I wish CO would stop 'updating' and 'fixing' this game so the mod makers can finally fix it. They can't while CO keeps changing the source code and functions.

I started a new city and my first squares have lots of farming space. I put down 6 different 'extractor' buildings that are producing a lot, with lots of excess. I have a single cargo hub, in the neighborhood of industry and extractors, and there are zero trucks going to the Cargo hub. I am importing EVERYTHING else, and yet there are no trucks picking up to deliver to my city either.

Now you're telling us that Industries no longer works as well in CS2 as it did in CS1? I find that very tough to believe. I seem to remember that CS2 was advertised as a step up from CS1 not two steps down. Bigger and better not smaller and worse. why would anyone preorder a game that was smaller and worse and a step back from the original?
