Everyone Walks
Has anyone else noticed that almost everyone will choose to walk, regardless of distance parking, ect? If you look closely at those empty roads around commercial areas, attractions, schools, and train stations, you should see hordes of pedestrians and almost no cars with destinations of these types. Even in a test city (vanilla obviously) where I separated the areas (residential commercial and industrial) by a long distance and one road, and almost everyone walked to the commercial areas. Comparable to essentially everyone in a average city with closer distances between residence and commerical.
Industry works a bit different where people will somewhat reasonably drive a majority of the time, although a unrealistic number will walk across the map if you build a path.
Wasn't this the game where cims where supposed to have adaptive decision making based on the environment and economics? Is the slider for walk preference just way way to high since the last update?

How many of the walkers are unemployed?

Only some (commercial) employees drive occasionally. All of employed or not shoppers or visitors to the train station for example walk regardless of if they are employed. Many might drive to the industrial area for work, but refuse to drive to the commerical area to shop.
Is there ample parking at the shopping areas? If parking is hard, walking is easier.
But too many walk too far.

Yeah, in my original city I went all in on the parking lots. Completely vacant street parking too. The train station had comically large empty parking lots, and was pretty disconnected from the main city, but hordes of cims were walking across highways to get there

Most of the people in my city take the (metro) subway. Of coarse they do have to walk a short distance to get to a terminal.

Yeah that's a good point for what I noticed as well, people will walk to take transit. Problem is they all (100%) walk to transit, which is fine for say a bus stop (although still a bit crazy for thousands to choose to wait all day for buses) but unrealistic for say a regional train station with free parking.

i haven't gotten any big cities, it isn't fun enough for me yet...traffic is a big issue and pedestrians are a cause of a lot of it....there are SO many people walking they clog the streets....that and turning lanes not having a dedicated turning signal timer.

Yeah I meant to attach some screen shots of the massive hordes of people walking through my car less cities

Great ! If they want to walk why not let them. Ugly bunch of spooks sure as hell can't drive.

Because it's not realistic In anyway, they said when they released the game that some people would always choose to drive and the rest would make active calculations based on cost, stress, parking, and a couple other factors. I just don't enjoy looking at a city full of hordes of pedestrians and only service vehicles on the roads.

Parking is the key. If they arent using cars, you likely dont have enough parking. Do you have multiple cars queued up at parking lots? If you think you have enough parking, you dont.

Funnily, today the new season of Emily in Paris dropped, there are flyover scenes which look exactly like in CS2 : Hordes of people, almost no cars ;)
I immediately was wondering if the developers were inspired by those Hordes or if the show makers were hinting that they play CS2.....

What I said in my first comment: "Yeah, in my original city I went all in on the parking lots. Completely vacant street parking too. The train station had comically large empty parking lots,"
It's definitely not a user error. I'm fairly certain if most people look closely they'll also find almost all the traffic they see is industry commuters, people moving in, and service vehicles. With hordes of pedestrians. Which is also what I've been noticing on YouTubers videos.
