Possible Bug??? Population Decline, no home demand.
My city was growing nicely and I had around 350k residents. Then suddenly, without rhyme or reason everyone just started leaving at 1k/hour. Business demand is really high but nobody will move in... despite having extremely high happiness. I even lowered tax on my residential to -10% and still not even a sliver of green. I can't seem to figure this out.

Especially for big cities this is not an option.
So use the bye bye homeless mod instead then?
As stated in the description of the Bye bye homeless mod it only gets rid of the "free-roaming" homeless hordes. Not the parkdwellers. I do advise using it and checking the population decline graph...
It's glorious.

That was my experience as well. So a proper patch is what is needed.

it won't affect the park dwellers because they are part of the correctly functioning bit. If they are stuck at your parks, you don't have enough ways to get out of your town. Homeless thing is 2 part bit, one is as intended, 1 is bugged. Mod sorts out the bugged part.

I have 50 or so roads leading off map on all four edges and had 8 bus lines 4 of each from 2 harbours leading to all four off map destinations. The parks are still full after several game months.

Check out the "Moved Away" and current pop numbers in this shot.
The peak population was 3.4 million before this shot showing 2 million was snapped after runing BBH mod for a few months.
The numbers match to almost the single digit.
The parks are still full even though suitable housing, jobs, education, and many exit options are available.

This shot taken about 2 months after 8 bus lines to the outside cities were initiated.
Homeless are seen streaming away from the city.
Parks remained full (of course).
Surprisingly though, the incoming busses brought in even MORE homeless to the parks.

Yeah, like I wrote in my own post about the bug, the park occupation is the really silly part because it's as intended.

I wish my police stations could be complemented with a riot police facility. "Go live under a bridge, you hipster!"

I agree it is surely intended but the parks being full in the face of suitable housing, education, jobs and MANY exit options was probably not intended.

I had same issue when my city reached almost 100k pops. I disconnected all hwys that connected to outside of the city, and the pops started increasing and residential demand came back. You may need to disconnect other transportation, such as train, ferry and flight if it is connected to outside.

The demand was still unstable so I had to increase residential building slowly. I guess there must be something, e.g. less low renting house supply or homeless as others said, push the citizens away from the city. But I cut the escape way so nowhere they can go...

Has anyone tried the disable homeless in the cheat screen (tab/Simulation) does this work?

Tried it and let it run for an in-game month. Disabling homeless in dev mode will clear the homeless out of the parks within dev mode. But restarting in normal mode will make 'm reappear.

cool, what at least that is a work around until they fix it and give a new problem. Seems they cure one issue and create more with every "fix"

I wouldn't consider this a work-around. Playing the game in dev mode has issues:

It could well be the rebalancing and a new bug(?) about offices and commercial. Recently workplaces were rebalanced in industry and perhaps office too, and so a bunch of things went awry. Check if you have a bunch of offices with 5/5 workers for example and a bunch of unemployment.
Funny thing about that 5/5 fix, it only works on office.

Prior to the 5/5 fix both of my big old cities were infested with 5/5 in almost all my commercial and most of my office zones. After applying the 5/5 30% tax fix, which took days to rebuild the companies, all of the office zones corrected but commercial gradually fell back to mostly 5/5. So.....I redid it this time only on commercial.

After the second attempt on commercial which took more than two weeks to balance and a population loss of 1.4 million the commercial zones all went back to 5/5 whereas office is still normal. I can only conclude commercial is still bugged.

I have determined this 5/5 commercial bug is not as noticeable in a small city under 500K or so or in a a very young city. Both my big cites (over 1M) are infested with it.

I have not seen any posts about the 5/5 bug since Eco 2.0 I wonder if anyone else has experienced this in BIG OLD or any city?
