Same problem here. Worked fine one week ago, and all of a sudden it crashes when loading. Re installed, unsucribed to all the mods, and the problem is still there
Same problem. I've tried everything, and nothing helped. The only way to resolve this issue is to wait for a patch from the developers. This problem appeard аbout a week ago.

Do you use any mods?

If reinstalling the game, you need to manually delete all remaining crap from appdata/local low / colossal order / cities ckylines !!. Or just remove the whole folder after taking copies of your save games. Mods leave all kind of crap behind them and this is the best way to reset the situation.

If you are using an Nvidia GPU it might be the latest drivers. A lot of players of Farm Simulator 22 have had issues with them keeping the game from loading at all. Reverting them fixed the problem. Different game I know so might be a shot in the dark, but the timing and issues seem to match, it might be worth a try reverting your drivers to the previous version if you are comfortable doing that sort of thing.

Other games do seem effected.

interesting thanks for pointing this out.

still I dont understand why all my mod settings and even the game settings are defaulted after a crash. Feels like it cant be only nvidias fault here.

You need to browse with file explorer to users/your username/appdata/local low folder and delete Colossal order folder.

If you don't see these folders, you need to adjust in File explorer settings to show hidden files and folders.

To rule this out:
rename
%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II
to %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II.old
and try again.
