Why are some vehicles taking an exit and then getting back on?
It seems some of the vehicles on my freeway like to take some of the exits on it and then get right back onto the freeway, which is incredibly stupid. The section between the exit and entrance is perfectly fine.

So, main questions:
- Why are vehicles using the exit as a bypass that is slower?
- Is there a mod out there that tweaks the traffic AI? Traffic seems to be acting similar to the original game, which is a shame.
- What can I do to the road to encourage them to continue on rather than take an exit?

Thanks ahead of time.

Even if the road looks good, sometimes the pathing breaks for dumb reasons. Delete and rebuild the highway between the exit and entrance and it will get used again.

I took your advice and did this. I managed to fix it for a short period of time by just using the move it tool on it. I also rebuilt the road. The problem is that somehow the vehicles eventually start taking that horrible bypass again.

I would hazard a guess that the distance between where they are coming from and going to is shorter through the 2 ramps than by staying on the highway?

because the code of the game is completely disaster. Is worse than CS1

Open the Traffic info view and I bet the road they are taking is less busy then the road they are avoiding. This especially happens with brand new roads because they have no traffic data built up over time yet by the simulation.

It should resolve itself once the "wrong road as you see it" gets enough traffic and enough time to build road statistics that the simulation will go back using the "correct road as you see it" when it compares the data with the other road.

Try using TM:PE. The program allows you to dictate what happens at intersections. When you have an exit from a highway, CS1 places a right/left turn and straight across arrow if you highway entrance is across from your exit. TM:PE allows you to change the directional arrow to a right turn only. This stops cars from getting off and right back on. You can use TM:PE to require cars entering your highways to turn into the outside lane instead of crossing over to the inside lane. TM:PE also allows you to set up intersections the way you want. If you have two 4 line roads intersecting in a T. Without TM:PE, traffic turns left into through traffic. You can control the traffic lights to allow left turns across traffic while the through traffic waits. You can even add an extra step in traffic lights that stops all traffic to allow people to cross. You can also synchronize a group of lights on a road; thus, allowing traffic to move through without stopping. I don't know why the developers having add something like TM:PE to CS1 or CS2. You are the manager of your city. You should be able to control intersections like managers in real life do.
