300k pop, but no lodging...

Run into a problem with Lodging (immaterial good)... or the lack thereof.

So I've got a city of around 300k, lvl 20, obscene amounts of cash, a subway system, a train system, everyone's happy, and enough parks to fill out Orlando. Only thing is that while I have the international airport and two harbors down, plus most of the signature buildings and some of the landmarks, I have nada in the way of hotels.

Zero. Zilch. No 'lodging' goods being generated at all.

Any idea what I'm missing? Is the normal airport required to get them to spawn? Do I need more than two 'tourist trap' items down? I have close to 20k tourists any given month, so you'd assume...

This is one thing I have never been able to crack after half a dozen cities over a million pop. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong?

yeah, Lodging seems to be broken. Bug report it on the official Paradox forum and maybe one day they patch it.

According to the Wiki, you need High Density Business zoned before you'll see hotels.

I have had the same issue. I have one or two hotels via what I can only assume was a fluke, but then HAVE NOT been able to replicate this in the same city.

After the economy 2.0, has anyone tried like, just cheesing the tax slider just to get it going? Does that even work now? Or are we going to have to wait for a DLC or something?

Started a new city a week after the 2.0 update. 130k population, City attractiveness 210, Lodging tax at -10%. I plop down a high density zone right by a few landmarks. Just deleting building after building. Still have 0 hotels. I might have to get the mod to just plop them down myself.

I have not been able to spawn hotels or motels either. I'm going to say it's a bug.

True. We're also supposed to see "Motels" with Low Density Commercial zoning and I'm going to guess those counts as lodging as well, but I've never seen any of those either. Has anyone?

The only time I get lodging is if I place commercial near my transportation centers. So close to the airport, bus deports, train stations, harbors.

I haven't played enough on one city to get beyond 30k since the 2.0 changes, but my cities had hotels before I had tourist traps before. I loved parks before 2.0, so I think I must have had enough.

I started a new city and currently have 32,000 population. I just noticed a hotel called the Brag and Roost, Food and Lodging. It's a low density commercial. Yayyy.
