My City is slowly dying
Hey folks,

I played around 2-3 ingame years and my City was growing well.

But than my Population starts to Die, no new people are moving in to my City so the City slowly dies 🤨

Beside that problem i am wondering about the criminals in my City... bo matter if i build more police stations, wellfare building, jails with rehabilitation extansions...

Alot of home less people on the sideways and parks ...

Did i forget something what needs to be fixed asap after their vacations ?

Disconnect your highways, disable any trains/boats/air ppl transports out of town. Let it run for about 2 months ingame while giving them wathever zoning they desire.

This will reduce your homeless, and unemployment by taking jobs from out of towners and giving them too citizen. you city will keep growing fine for the 2 months and be way more stable after

Check your unemployment. After patch, I was up to 60% unemployment. I started building offices and industry everywhere and slowly resolved the issue. Then my city started growing again. Also, if you havent already, check your older offices. Many were sent down to only 5 employees when there used to be a hundred or more. Rebuild those.

What is the job situation like? Lots of unfilled job vacancies. Education levels? Suitable for the jobs on offer? Transportation? Good public transport (buses, trams, subway, rail) between residential and industrial/commercial? Good transport (road, rail, ship) between production centers (Industry) and outside customers. Don't rely on road - it is fine for local stuff, but not for import/export. Recreation? A good range of parks and sports grounds. Good Mail delivery and pickup services? Sufficient hospitals and crematoriums to care for the dead and dying? What's the level of Cim happiness? If it's low, what are the key areas that they are dissatisfied with.
Even things like insufficient car parking spaces around all areas can cause problems.

In other words, the task is to balance ALL of these, along with office space and resources, and anything else that thhe Cims' need.
A tip. If you select one of the services and just look at the map, you will see where you have adequate coverage, and where your coverage is totally inadequate. (that includes small parks, which are probably the most cost effective way to improve Cim's satisfaction levels..

I always looked at unemployment. And kept it around 20 - 150 unemployed people by a Population of 14k.

My offices are ok, no decreased building to 5/5 ...

I guess the birth to death ratio is bugged ... almost no young citizens in my town.

Happiness is great, only -2 noise, and -2 crime (but i have overpowered police , jail, wellfare in my 14k town). Now im at 11k ...

I have alot of parks and tourists , bus System is good.

By now i dont have a cargo/train/ship outside connection... i will try that,

Wow, as soon as i disconnect the Highway, and disabled my bus + train outside connection. People start moving back into my town.

Dont know how they arrive without roads but it happens. I will let it run for 2 months as you said and than reconnect the Highway plus enabling bus and train routes.

Thx 4 tip, hope it will work a long time

It will work but not for long.
The opposite approach is actually better long term.
Many many open roads of EVERY type along every edge of the map eventually helps solve all of the problems in a well balanced city.
Yes, even homeless are part of a well balanced simulation.

worst case you just repeat the process, it's all connected with the homeless bug and changes in out of town workers, they take all the jobs so ppl living has none. and ppl that end up homeless bugs out and don't get another home or move away. The ppl moving into housing and making your city grow afther disconnecting I assume are these limbo ppl. will stagnate after a couple months. then connect and play normally.

I got this tip from a guy in a stream chat, just spreading it.

This was exactly what I did. I let the game run for an in-game year while disconnected and focused on maximizing access to education and building enough homes. now everyone in my city is wealthy and I'm making money hand-over-fist. I still have a ton of homeless people and can't get them to do anything regardless of what I've tried.

So they prioritize out of towners with jobs over city homeless? Homeless should be first on the list to move into new housing or get a job, especially if they are already educated and wealthy. Disconnected the one highway into the city and the unemployment % dropped quickly. Welfare office should expedite homeless progression into finding new housing and jobs over out of towners.

Install the mod "bye bye homeless" and that fixes the bug in the game that is causing these issues. Hopefully we can get a bug fix from CO in a few months on that one.

No, i dont install mods. The homeless bug is known by the devs, and i guess 1 week after their vacation a Hotfix will come.

Im curious what this patch will break xD

Till then i let the game out of my mind and enjoy summer ... like they (CO) do 🌴
