"You can also change tile upkeep costs, increasing or decreasing tile upkeep (including reducing the upkeep cost to zero)."
Interested? Have a look at "529 Tiles", which does more that you probably thought it did.
is the economy finally working? I mean to create industries like wood, we can buy and resell resources?
Industrial is a major tax income. Just don't set them too high.
Only build what you need in terms of service buildings.
I managed to do positive profits with imports instead of maintaining powerplants but ending up having a game where I have to wait most of the time until my city is big enough to actually build stuff like services. Idk how I should feel about this update. Its even harder than before. And for me definetley not enjoyable.
You can't actively buy or sell. It happens automatically by the private companies. But production, imports and exports do work.
Some changes are good, but overall it's just not fun anymore.
My suggestion is switch to unlimited money or use a mod to make the economy easier to deal with. After all, money didn't matter before the patch anyway. It was all an illusion, and a significant source complaints because of it.
The patch isn't perfect, but it's a step in the right direction.
If you make a mistake you will need to take on credit, which you can pay off later.
Also exploit as many resources as possable.
Well, just like before, I'm probably going to be spending another couple hundred hours just finding workarounds to new problems.
It's kinda unfortunate as I feel the game went from flawed but fun, to flawed but not fun. Suppose I'll stick with WRSR until C/O gets back from vacation in a month and they fix things.
I do agree there is some good, but tbh the bad in it, like icedude94 says, kinda overshadows the good.
I recommend building the natural resource extractors like farms and quarries. You can raise the individual taxes for those industries to 30% and it will not affect them. I just filled out the starting tiles with my city and I'm running a 40,000/hour positive cash flow, much of it thanks to those industries.
Tip:Cotton seems to earn the most income.
Try the 30% tax on raw resources I suggested in the post above. That will give you enough early game cash flow to build all of the services you want while keeping enough of a positive surplus to expand at an enjoyable pace. I hope that restores the fun for you and takes away the grind from waiting for cash reserves to build up like it did for me.
