Unemployment extremely high after patch
After the patch the game run wonderfully, I had an immense population growth without the parallel need to build other zones. Yet, the population statistics seamed strange: 10.000 more jobs than employees, and that hasn't changed for days of playing. Unemployment rate is yet around 66%. I didn't bother as my game target is not game challenge but building beautiful big cities. But now the population demand has fallen to Zero. Population still grows or falls within the range of 20.000 without any obvious reason. I don't use mods referring on population. What can I do?

More jobs. Industry and Offices are you're primary job sources. If you have a ton of those, try squeezing small 2x2 ones around the city. Also specialized industry with large zones creates plenty more jobs as well

the number of jobs for offices and commerce changed with the patch. not sure if it's a bug or a feature.

I'd say it's a bug. Not rare for a high density office building to move from 100~/100~ ish employes to 5/5 employees

For me it shows that there's 4 workplace availability in the city :) almost each office building shows that it is available for rent, some offices show that only 5 employees are working there even though its a high density office as well.

It's a bug and it's been reported. Offices eventually turn to only 5 jobs.

10,000 more jobs might be for highly educated.

Unemployment rate is yet around 66% might all be low educated.

Same issue - Office jobs are bugged. Residential 6x6 high density has 100x more people in them than a similar sized office building in the same area. An office building of a similar size should have more people than residential like we have in RL.

@buda: education demand is quite balanced, a little bit less highly education ...

I've had similar experiences. Post-patch, a stable and profitable city has ground to a halt.

1. Unemployment, which was at 5%, is now at 35%.
2. Demand for commercial and office doesn't even register it's so low.
3. Industrial demand is still pretty high. Oddly, so is residential demand (all types).
4. Education, which was good pre-patch, has also cratered after the death wave and about 30% of my cims are now considered poorly educated despite my schools being packed full.

I've let the sim run for a couple of hours to let the effects of the patch and death wave pass but something seems to be very off.
I ran into the same problem and it turned out to be that close to 60% of my city's total population was stuck hanging out in my parks. They would eventually die in massive waves (going from ~170k to ~90k in one instance) and my unemployment would adjust back to normal. If you delete and replace your parks you'll probably notice the difference right away,

Unemployment is affected by the homeless people too. I had various amounts of unemployment up to 35% before I kicked all homeless people out. After that, more like 5% or less.

It was definitely the patch.

After the patch yesterday my unemployment dropped from 22% to 2.2% in 30 minutes of playing.

Any idea how to fix this? my unemployment rate is at 80% all my industry are empty and for rent I dont know what to do its been like this for hours...

I let my simulation run for 4 hours. It's back to normal now. The patch probably changed some minor balances. It's all good again.

Yea, there was some sort of bug that was preventing empty commercial and office buildings from being re-rented that was fixed in the latest patch. Or something like that.
