Buying Cars From Dealers?
I notice the game has a car plant, where they build cars, and that there are car dealerships in the game. Do the sims actually purchase a car, if they have enough $$$ to purchase a car if they don't have one? Just curious. My car plant is building cars, and sending them to the cargo trail, so I'm just wondering.

no that's all fake and just for optic. easy to see: mark a citizen and follow him on whatever he's doing. he takes a car to drive to work. sometimes its enough space to park there sometimes not. if not his car disappears in his pocket. as the same citizen gets out of work, his outfit is different and so is his car when he magically let it appear again. he drives to a shop and gets in there. again, he gets out in a complete different outfit after visiting a diner f.e. and not a clothing store. if he had his car in his pocket it will be a different one again. every building this citizen does enter makes him look different, the ped model does change also. and so does his car as soon as it's not visible parked somewhere. if a citizen has enough money to buy a car it's just hokus pokus out of the bag and there. but it will never stay the same.

How many cars fit in to a pocket ?
I sometimes find a bus hanging at my keyring,.but I still can't find the Sherman tank from last year.

Gelse is mixing up CS1 and early after release CS2 when they still changed looks and outfits every time they spawned back in. There are no pocket cars in CS2. Cims can lose their vehicles in the despawn or an accident which makes them have to buy a new one.

They do buy and own cars but it is typically one car per household. The last patch at least allowed them to share the vehicle and carpool a bit now. It used to be that if both adults in the household worked, one would take the car and the other would take public transit or walk all the way.

They do buy cars. If you use the devtools command to remove all residents and vehicles, all the cims will have to purchase new cars and you'll see it happen.

Some cims don't even use their cars if they can walk or use public transit. You see them move into the city in their car, then they park it and never use it again.

This is my main question before deciding to test out CS2.

I really, really, disliked the "pocket cars" from CS1, and really disliked that vehicles would despawn if they got stuck on traffic for too long or simply if their journey was too long.

Thankfully, there were mods to fix those issues, and it made the game infinitely more interesting for me - I even had to create parking lots, something that's not part of the intended design of CS1, for example.

But for CS2 I keep hearing mixed stuff about this. Some people say that pocket cars are still a thing, others like you say they aren't, I can't for the life of me find a conclusive answer.

it can't be mixed up when i was following a cim to see changes. during 48hrs cimTime the same cim changed his car model and color with that pocket trick 3 times. and there was no accident or despawn going on during that time. this happened yesterday.

The only time you ever see them pull a car from their pocket is right after purchasing one.
icedude94 Jun 26, 2024 @ 2:27pm
Before they patched out cims being able to shop directly from industrial zones and warehouses, you would see crowds of cims going to vehicle warehouses and buying vehicles from them, then crowding at the sidewalk as they one by one pulled their new car out of their pocket to drive away.

Now you see that with just the commercial zones that sell cars.

Try doing a google or a youtube search for pocket cars in cities skylines 2 if you don't believe it.

well i don't know what's going on in the underground garage but he drove in with a yellow smart and left the same garage with a green sedan f.e.

I highly doubt that you spent 48 game hours watching a single cim to see if he would pull multiple pocket cars when there's everything else going on with the new economy patch.

A person being honest would've just looked in the patch notes if this was still an issue for them.

Or do you want me to believe, after you mentioned cims changing outfits, that you spent yesterday following a cim for this specific thing just in case, just an hour ago, someone would make a post about pocket cars?
