So... Is there a way to make building and props reappear without any technical stuff?
crap broke overnight I assume and I need to know whether or not I can still salvage this game without diving into the files or uninstalling the game

When you buldozed stuff just build it again to make it reappear!

Also: Just think 'What would Harry Potter do!?'
He probably can make stuff reappear the magic way. Exciting!!!

Some who had the same issue had used custom assets before. Did you too?

I had mods, but deleated them and reinstallled game. New buildings are completly invisable.

Actually you need to give at least a little bit more info than you did. Otherwise my advice above is the best you will get.
_______________

Did you have asset mods? And did you delete those asset mods after? If so, did you delete them via PDX-Mods or did you delete the files in the windows explorer?

What are 'new buildings'? Asset mods? Or maybe 'Beach Properties' DLC?
'Beach Properties' got taken out of game until reintroduced for everyone for free at some time (late April afaik). Until then 'Beach Properties' will be grey boxes.

After all I know, asset mods don't get deleted properly and still cause problems even after deletion in PDX-Mods. I guess there ist a reason why CO does not officially support those.

Sorry, maybe more detailed. This applies to all buildings such as schools/hospitals/power plants/water pumping stations/train depots, etc. - literally everything that is not a zoned building - residential/commercial/office, etc. I had a few mods, but honestly, I don't remember what they were called. What you're writing about sounds familiar, so I guess so. All mods were from the workshop and after installing them, the problem occurred. First, I removed each mod by using this official mod tool (directly in-game). I also tried playing with the graphics - turning off anytanasling, changing the resolution, quality, nothing helped unfortunately.

Okay, so I checked other threads, the problem is resolved. This whole issue was most likely Paradox and CO doing yet another idiotic move.

Didn't they basically deleted the entire nobeachfronts assets from the DLC, once they removed it from the Store? Major CO incompetence moment

This is a good punishment for people who tough that it was a good idea to buy this as a standalone DLC, you get what you deserved

I saw this in another thread: (https://steamcommunity.com/app/949230/discussions/0/4365752664043686758/)

Hey guys I posted this yesterday but I’ll make a new one, this is how to fix the invisible buildings glitch that I’ve noticed to be a common problem right now. I think it’s caused by outside assets being added to the game IE the staircase mod. You’ll notice even after uninstalling that one they are still in your game. Uninstalling doesn’t seem to remove the files from your computer so you have to do it manually.

What you need to do is :

1 : uninstall that mod

2 : go to Local disk/Users/%Username%/Appdata/LocalLow/Colossal Order/Cities Skylines 2

3 : Once in there find the folder labeled CustomAssets and delete the stair case assets off your PC. This should fix the problem entirely.
