The Resolution mod destroyed my game!!! What to do!?
I used the resolution mod, and by mistake, I set the width to 3440 and left the height at 0. Since then, my game doesn't work no matter what I try, and it's impossible to enter the game.

I tried to disable the mods via Skyve, it's not possible. I tried to reinstall the game, it didn't work. Then I uninstalled the game, deleted all folders, uninstalled Steam and deleted all its folders. I deleted everything possible on my computer related to CS2 and Steam, and then reinstalled everything.

And the game still doesn't work. The same problem again. Just a tab strip with the name of the game appears and then everything disappears and shuts down.

I found an article on how to properly place the .reset file in the folder where the mod is located, I did that, and it still didn't solve the problem. I deleted everything from the registry, and it still didn't solve the problem.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this nonsense?

No, mods are to be installed at your own risk, mods have always had the possibility of messing up a game and they always will. It's the nature of modding.

The settings are stored in 'AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II'. Delete everything in the 'Cities Skylines II' folder to start the game with default settings. All in this folder will be recreated by the game on launch.

BUT BE CAREFULL!
I cannot guarantee this will work and I urge you to do a backup-copy of the whole contains of this folder before you delete anything!

I don't know man, everyone who is capable to install the mods, should have certain comprehension skills, to understand that 'experimental' means pre-alpha, so unless you are certain on 100% you know what you are doing, you should not touch it.

I presume the reason why the mod in experimental = pre-alpha stage is in mod platform is to allow to be tested by more experinced players who are capable and willing to provide feedback to the author.

If you read carefully the OP's message, they set the height to zero. So the mod did precisely what the player wanted, so it is not like mod did not worked, unfortunatelly it was not foolproofed so it allowed user to enter something stupid. Do you know how many times I did something similarly stupid and broke something and later found out I do not know how to fix it?

Are you trying to annoy the modder so they will abandon working on the mod and maybe on whole CS2? So please pump a break and give a guy space to breath and try to improve the mod and fix the problem. Do you know how many I times I had to foolproof my tools, because I did not thought my users, can do something so stupid?

Theres got to be a an .inf file or configuration file somewhere where you can actually open and fix the resolution. I would look in your users folder as well as the steam folders for that file

Hello, I found the solution and it's very simple.

You need to change the resolution in the Windows registry.

Go to "RUN", type "regedit", and when the window opens, among the folders on the right side, find Colossal Order>Cities Skylines 2. In that folder, you will find the file "Screen Manager resolution height", also width. Change the parameters to the desired resolution, save, close, and restart the game.

Hilarious, thats what you get for installing mods, that clearly warn you, that you use them on your own risk.

Some don't like accepting that responsibility :) . Thats the one problem with the likes of Steam workshop, although it opens modding upto everyone, you then get the comments that just make your brain hurt.

Modding has and always will be a risk, even on Nexus you certainly read the description before downloading otherwise there was a likely hood it wouldn't work.. but people mostly knew that.

Here it's just "click & play", which has lead to the level of ignorance you see in the forums and comments when it comes to modding.

Same thing with computers really, people really should have a certain level of awareness when it comes to using them, but they don't.

As for the OP, he did fine, asked a question, and then went out of his own way to solve it, and even provided his solution when he did, weirdness happens, and when you solve it yourself, it certainly does help you learn.

0 - Delete game and re-install
1 - Restart game
2 - Turn off mods
3 - Load previous save and wait for this mess to mature, if ever.

Please try the registry keys solution. If that doesn’t work I also have a discord server so I can guide you on it.

The reason this mod still has an effect after removing it/game uninstall is because the game saves the resolutions on a windows registry and does not refresh them.

Thank you, the OP solved it that way.

Thanks. An update has been pushed to stop this from happening again.
