A game released just before a quarterly earnings report, similar to how Victoria 3 was, and how Millennia and the latest batch of DLC were 2 weeks ago for the sale...
Yep looks like they're in some trouble.
Games which Paradox absolutely had an unacceptable, but undeniable monopoly on.
Sadly they got used to it and stopped caring about the people who made the successes - their developers, and their fans.
They thought the marketing was more important, and share holders.
I am looking forward to Manor Lords though.
Much like with Disney, I suspect Paradox put some new cooperate guy in as the CEO that knows nothing about making games but everything about making money. And this is the sort of thing you get every dam time.
Which game are you talking about? I can't tell if that was sarcasm about CS2 or worry about the other games mentioned? LOL.
Yeah Manor Lords does look interesting more so that Hooded Horse the publisher of the game seem to have a very good reputation at the moment, and they seem to actually care about the games they release.
With how they just nuked another of their titles, they might but it really depends as it seems according to the video, Cities Skylines 2 was supposedly an important game for them. And yet they screwed it up, by rushing its release because reasons. Because of that we have the mess that we have now, not to forget the below subpar Beach Properties DLC.
They spent millions on that lamplighters league and how many years and nuked that, I cant imagine the beachless DLC has saved them much. Most people were getting it free and The playerbase is hardly setting the world alight
Oh, I thought you were being sarcastic because you called CS2 an early access game. Because it plays like one. But you hit upon the problem. If only it were an early access game at an early access price. They would have saved themselves a ton of grief if they had released it as an EA game. Then they double down on that rip off of a DLC.
See, we were not getting the DLC for free. We paid a ton of money for it and the two DLCs to still come afterwards. But thats why I am so pissed. I paid extra money and was locked into getting this bad DLC. Others could see what it was and not buy it.
They won't abandon the game until we get the 2 DLC we are owed. otherwise thats a lawsuit in the making. But I suspect, just like with the Beach DLC, the two other ones will have next to nothing in it. I will tell you what I think happened with this DLC. They might of had more in it originally but they didn't want to allocate the resources to make the other stuff. I strongly suspect the houses in this DLC was going to be in the original game and they just held them back to put in the DLC so they didn't have to put any more time and money into making the DLC.
In the end it will be interesting to see what Paradox do now, knowing that Hooded Horse are muscling in on their turf.
True Jumbo Pixel does have some good takes on Skylines 2 sometimes.
I agree, once the Paradox logo becomes a warning sign to customers (if it isn’t already) or a badge of shame if things are really bad, both players and developers will walk away and they’ll be left without anything to sell.
Also, hilarious if Paradox passed up Manor Lords. I really hope it was that!
