death rate at 16k per month now. Full on zombie apocalypse. The Grid will endure.
Yea it feels like half my city is dying as well...

Do we just wait for it to be over and re-asses the situation?
Do we just say f it, scrap and start over?

How are we supposed to proceed here?

Wait if you want to continue that city. They've said it can take 2 game months to settle, or more.

Thanks.
2 months and death rate slowly starts decreasing - guess there's light at the end of the tunnel, but will take quite some time still..

Just wait it out.

Update- The lower populated districts have pulled through, the higher density areas are still fighting back the hords of zombies... does appear things are turning around.. import/export industry is slowly sorting itself out, population is growing at good rate, birth rate is high, and move in rate is extremely high.

Death Rate has declined to 3k per month. City is bouncing back, pop is up 50k to 500k and growing rapidly.. the zombie apocalypse is nearly over, brighter days are ahead. So far Eco 2.0 seems ok, but i will need to start a new city to see what everyone is talking about in regards to the new starting difficulty to know if its the players or the game.

Yea i kinda gave up on waiting that day even though death rate was declining - it just took a lot of time and eventually i noticed shifts in zoning demand, which prompted me to go down to 1x speed and rezone a few blocks, like one at a time, further increasing the time it would take for the zombie apocalypse to be over with..

That said, i certainly appreciate your updates on this, gives me certainty in the fact i'm still holding on to that city may be worthwhile.

In terms of economy - sitting slightly below 100k cims living there and having utilized most of the tiles i bought, i'm still making good money [no tax exploits or anything if they're still a thing] on a vanilla save. That's despite streets being full of hearses stuck in traffic etc, but as you said - we'd have to start a new game in order to judge the new starting difficulty.

I found the reason and easy solution. If you have a 1 or 2k region of your city with low density areas and star to add some medium density, nice transports and connections, nice public services and shops... Your low density people won't be able to pay the rents and will go homeless to the parks and leave the houses empty. The solution is to go to the public administrstion view and check for the houses in grey. You will see that those are empty and must be removed. The second tools is the financial status of the families. You will notice that most of the low density remaining are unsatisfied while the medium density are nicely green. Remove all those unsatisfied residential areas. Noe let the time run for a while from this point. In few minutes the low residential demand will start to increase and in few more minutes thousands of people will star to move to the city looling for all those open jobs that the death wave left behind. In half an hour you will have to build more houses to welcome so many. Stop building residential areas like crazy and specially check that the people can pay to live there as you improve the areas and increase the soil value.
