So you have often an older version running while it installs a newer version.
That's why you have to restart the game: to get the latest mod version running.

The only solution to the multiple restart is:
- either CO puts the updater into the paradox launcher before the main game menu gets initialized at all.
- Or you use an external updater/mod manager. Like Skyve.
However, Skyve works only with paradox mods. As Stealthy mentioned, If you have also mods installed from a different site like Thunderstore (or still have remnants from before paradox mods got fully implemented), Skyve does not touch them which could cause version and dependancy conflicts.
- Or you live with the multiple game restarts until all mods got updated and initialized.

Also keep in mind, check the update messages. As long as the game is still showing updating/initializing messages , you cannot start the game, otherwise this process could be interrupted and mods or content might be missing.

Technically CS1 has the same problem. If you subscribe to workshop content while the game is running in some way, the new content won't be available until you restart the game.
I can understand the fact that when you add a new mod the game needs to restart.
Now i´m using SKYVE and looks like works fine. But i think that this problem shouldn´t exist.
Welcome to modding since... forever.

But seriously, this is what modding a game actually is like. You run into issues of mod incompatibilities, whether with the version of the game you're on or between different mods because they affect the same files. Cities Skylines 1 has a similar problem of legacy mods that either don't work outright or have been succeeded by other mods that do similar things. And, indeed, I believe that's what Skyve was originally developed for, was CSL1. You'll see it in the description: lists of mods that are known to be incompatible. That isn't Colossal Order or Paradox writing it, that's the community.

Because that's ultimately what modding is: a community venture. For all the problems that PDX Mods has (and it has a lot of them), they aren't responsible for curating the modding platform for incompatibilities. That's ultimately on us and you to figure out. Modding is ultimately, and is so whether you use PDX Mods or the Steam Workshop, at your own risk. The only thing they are responsible for is keeping the platform working at all (which is still very much in the air) and keeping it safe (like what they did when they removed Network Extensions 3 for CSL1 from the Steam Workshop).

I only have to load a second time, when I change my playset. At least so far that was the case, I hope it will remain like that.

We NEVER must use an external APP for mods in this game, think about it before to call me "hater"

I used SKYVE, but i think that PDX mod should be working fine, it´s the offical mod support.

SKYVE is semi-official add on, the whole thing is designed around it. That is THE mod manager to use on PC.

Like you said "semi-official". But if you think that is the best way i´ll try.

It's not the best way because it doesn't work. I seriously regret ever buying this game. I have done everything I can think of and more. It just won't load all the mods. The game will run but I don't have use of the mods. I am not some kid that doesn't understand mods. I played City skylines for years before this game came out.

Yes it works, and works really well. So the question is: what is wrong in your install.

Have you used any mods before PDX mods became available? If yes, you quite likely have some left over crap in your computer causing the issues.

the whole problem is, the game loads and starts (some) mods before it updates them in the main menu, this messes the whole versioning up.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
