Should I buy?
Hi guys, luckily a few months ago the community advised me to use the gamepass method to play CS2 and while the game was ok... something about it was off. Now Im thinking of buying it on Steam so I can add mods and I also read another patch is coming up. Do you guys think I should wait? Im hoping with the mods and next patch the game will be ok...?

THANKS GUYS FOR THE REPLIES. i will hold off from purchasing but man this is the one game ive been itching for since the trailer came out. One day!! I will see one of my citizens go from single to family,to grandparents and along the way see their kids play sports and graduate from college and Il be a proud mayor! loooool

any recommendations (other than cs1) for a good quality simulation game?

No. Play cs1. It is far superior in every way besides poly count.

I also played it on Game Pass. And it was the deciding factor to not buy it, even with access to mods.
Short answer: NO
Long answer: DO NOT
Elaborate answer: If pigs could fly, YES

Road junctions are better in CS2 and in general, I think the buildings/roads look better, albeit limited. Everything else is utter trash and the company is toxic to its users, whilst blaming the community for the same. After all, theiving and lying (from CO) > Complaining (from customers)

Mods won't fix it yet, it needs substantial repairs from the devs, maybe in another year (or two}

No, it's not worth it. Problem is it'll only ever be worth it in a couple years with ~$100 worth of DLC added into it.

In my opinion, the game needs months of work. Not to say you will not have any fun playing it. But the depth and variety is missing. And right now there is no official MOD support.

First of all, even if you buy on steam, there are no mods in steam at the moment (and never will). You have to rely on third party websites to get a few mods.

Another thing is, it's very doubtful that the next patch will already fix everything what people are complaining about and what the games makes feel off. It's simply too much what needs to be fixed.
Also, CS1 released patches throughout its entire lifespan. Ok, most of the later patches were about content which was additionally added later throughout the years or new bugs the new content created.

However, we all have those hopes you mentioned.

But, at the moment, I would not recomend to buy it. Wait until at least official modding and 4-5 DLCs have been added, then ask the same question again.

In all honesty you need to upgrade your potato that you’re clinging to and too cheap to upgrade it.

True. Cs1 is organic. Haz tons of assets, and everything is polished. Looks beautiful. Cs 2 zoomed is ugly as heck. Cs1 zoomed, everything from rain wetness to proper winds and organic plants, grass, trees and all is just polished. I own both but I'm still building beautiful towns and cities in cs1. Even small details like road tunnels,
trails and all look so polished , in cs2 it's just a Grey and brown line. The tunnel road is just a white weird messed up looking entrance with no hole. I can't build my dream city or town in cs2. I can build it though, in cs1. Sad.
