So yeah, but just expect some bugs/issues still and a lack of content. You could wait until the next update, or the first DLC because maybe they would have some kind of bundle deal. But I don't see a lot of point in waiting if you think you want to try it. You can always buy it, get familiar with it, and come back later.
There are far better games than this Dog turd out there and if you like being totally ripped off then buy it from CD keys where you will only be ripped by 50%.
If you like the game, then it is worth buying even right now. Large chunk of those negative reviews aren't valid anyway, mostly they were a machined "cancel" take by a bunch of haters. Some of it is valid but they'd need to be updated to reflect the current state of the game.
Trouble is: People for some unknown reason expected this to be everything that C:S1 had plus more. And in reality, it was never supposed to be, or promised to be such. And this got people upset.
So, the game is an fairly empty skeleton, just like any other PDX game and C:S1 was. PDX has a business model of selling DLCs over the years to keep the game alive and thus to make more money. Everyone should have been aware of this, and yet they weren't. Game does offer enjoyable game play as is, but cities do look quite repetitive due to fairly low amount of building variation. However, most of the mechanics do work and tools like road tolls are way better than they were with C:S1.
There is also a bunch of mods available and more coming all the time. Mods like traffic lane connector, move it, traffic light enhancements and extended road tools allow making very efficient road networks and enhance the game play.
If I was you mate I would go by the reviews if you want to save some money and not be disappointed. Do not go by what the Tubers say as they change their opinion by how many views they get. One of the popular promoters even said the beach DLC was under priced and were getting way more than £10 worth of content. Then CO apologised for how poor it actually was and threw their paid promoter under the bus.
Honestly I keep coming back after a month or so because I get sucked in by the Positive threads by the same people but on different accounts. Thinking that I may have missed a meaningful update but to only find that its still the same miserable, boring PRE early access demo with just a small fraction of progress.
You just have to look at the player count to see what direction the game is going and even though they pulled the no beach DLC off the market place doesnt make it better, as most people think. It was pulled to disguise the fact that it was the worst rated content on steam.
If they had left it up there then future DLC would have plundered. I still cant see them pulling players back into the game as most have moved on to greener grass.
I have about 400hrs on steam version and many more on Gamepass but cant see me playing again as its just a boring sandbox low budget simulator.
My advice.
Play it on gamepass and then you can resort to playing Manor lords when you realise what a pile of junk CS2 is.
It's not perfect but the pain is gone and only getting better from here on.
Next update will focus on economy.
We are all looking forward to it.
But gameplay is somewhat limited because it still needs some improvements. Which I expect to happen.
With native mod support, there's already plenty of fantastic mods that enhance the gameplay. This community itself is top 5 worst, most toxic gaming communities I have ever been a part of and you will get nothing but biased negativity and hate regarding the game.
Game isn't perfect, but the reviews do not accurately reflect the gameplay or what the game really has to offer.
