From what I’ve heard, I don’t trust moderators at Paradox to implement bans fairly, with restraint and fair warning. I simply won’t use their forums at all.
You cannot use Paradox Hosted mods if your paradox account is banned. That is all. People are still free to use any and all mods they want from the internet.
Mod makers are already saying they won't support thunderstore and other platforms now that Paradox mods is released.
How you would get the mods then?
This is a strangely defensive interpretation, even if technically accurate. it’s expected and they want Paradox Mods to become the largest and primary repository for mods. Non-sanctioned mods have only arisen due to the (as yet) lack of an official modding platform. It is yet one more aspect of control that people should be aware of.
Not that I encourage potentially ban-worthy behaviour on forums. I don’t. But as I said earlier I personally can’t and won’t trust Paradox as judge, jury and executioner!
What a handful of modders say does not mean everyone of us in in lock step with one another. Others have already released mods outwith paradox hosted content. And many will continue to do so irrespective of what CO want or sanction. This is how modding is and always has been. Just because CO are making a central location to host mods does not automatically mean its the only access to them.
And I am speaking my modder hat on. I know most people would likely release anything to paradox hosting but I know just as many modders who wont simply down to terms of service requirements.
Yet some modders said they don't intend support other platforms for praticse reason and they will only use Paradox mods.
So, the information given in this thread is still pretty important and game-changing and people need to know that.
For honesty and clarity, I edited the main topic specifying Paradox mod platform.
show a little respect to other people, easy
The trap could be in a UL. (Sign the UL and it could be locked forever in PX and CO hands to do with as they wish.) A contract is just trash till you agree by signing it. These other platforms aren’t tied to any specific games. There’s no benefit to them to take the mods nor to prevent modders from being exposed to the general public.
Literally wouldn't trust any modder who beta testing and helping Co and Pdox launch it. Smells like paid shills just like those YouTubers.
The entire pdox mod agreement goes against the entire concept of community based mods.
