Mod Manager halved my FPS
So I removed by Plugins folder from CS2 and installed the Mod Manager with exactly the same mods as I had been using. The result was half the fps I had been getting and a very large effect on the simulation rate. I went back to the manual install and everything worked as it had previously. Any comments?
For reference I have a city of 450,000, 60 fps at normal speed and about 40 fps at 4 times speed where I get 1 minute of game time in less than a second of real time.

1. Which mod manager?
2. I doubt 60fps in a 450K city

The mod is r2modman and yes I do get 60 fps but I also have a custom built rig about three months old.

Then I can't explain it. I've seen seven systems go from manual or Thunderstore/Wolf over to r2modman and not seen that happen on them, including three more computers of my own. Two of the systems seemed to gain a few fps maybe, two seemed to drop a few fps maybe, others didn't make enough difference to even decide if it was up or down or not.
But one thing was common among all the swaps to r2modman... the users were glad they did it.

Yes, I thought it looked like a good option. I will check that I have not included anything in the Mod Manager that I don't have in the Plugins folder. Thank you for your replies and time.
Plus r2modman lets you choose the loading order of the mods as well as almost everything else, eliminating a problem you can have if you do it manually or with Thunderpants... I mean, Thunderstore/Wolf.
And Thunderstore/Wolf is so noisy and intrusive and ad-filled.

Oh, HEY! Maybe you have a mod loading before it's dependency or something like that? Have a check on mod loading order.

OP claims 60fps but I was in the mid 20s with a 13700k, 32 gigs ram, 4090 at 3440x1440 native res lol.

I'm running the game at the moment with 466,000 population. At normal speed I still get 58-60 fps in HD. I have to reduce the core ratios a little to prevent CTDs. Core temperature is 62C.
I'm lucky enough to have enough money to buy the best rig I could.
14th Generation I9 14900
RTX 4090
96Gb RAM running at 5600
2TB hard drive at 100,000 BPS and 1 TB drive in reserve
The whole rig (CPU and GPU) is water cooled with 5 fans and two radiators.
Built by Scan.

Sounds about right, to be fair. Basically the same system I have (except 6400mhz 64gb ram) and I get 30fps in 4k. Edit, mind you, that's with a low population.

Haven't tried R2 mod manager. I have been using Thunderstore and don't notice any difference in FPS using that mod manger.

Worth checking out if you can find the same mods there.
