CS series doesn't come close to modeling the social economic simulation as SC4.
It doesn't come close to the sheer volume of population either.
CS1 had pretty graphics and some more modern aka friendly building devices. Ease of elevated or sunken roads as an example.
But in terms of simulation CS1 is a toddler compared to sc4
Wishful thinking though, I don't think EA would pull through if they did reboot Simcity.
Let's be honest, EA would still mess it up just how they did with the last one. IF they did do a SC5 it would probably be pay to play where you pay real money to buy plots of land in game.
Pure city builders are too niche now. It will some city builder hybrid or a 100% casual builder dripping with in generic main stream.
So they can milk selling dlc or assets or chests or whatever.
SimCity 3000 was the 1st AAA city builder since EArts outright bought and absorbed maxis. That was 30+ years ago.
There has never been another AAA competitor. Even CS1 was made by CO a small Indy and paradox wasn't AAA public company at release.
So in 30+ years CS2 Is the only other published AAA city builder and it still wanted to be a hybrid and focus on industry supply chain. It went down faster then the Hindenburg.
City builder will always be for smaller independent studios.

Sorry, but you're quite wrong. It's just that it's not very known and I suppose most gets put off by the whole Soviet Republic part.
Dude Workers and Resources is an Indy title not a AAA game.
But thanks for proving my point.
Lmfao don't give them ideas like that! they'll be writing them down.
Its funny because about a week ago on this very forum I was saying I wish simcity 3000 would come to steam
I already have simcity 4, which I played more recently and for more hours this year tham CS2. Really shocking you have to go that far back in time to get a decent city sim
I wonder if EA is going to revive sim city franchise?
