Paradox Gives Themselves an Out
In another post someone put in part of Paradoxes CEOs comments, however the full comments are important here:
"Cities: Skylines II is the big release of the quarter, and we are upset that we didn't live up to players' performance expectations and couldn't release on all platforms at the same time. The game has still sold well, and by the end of the quarter, we had sold more than a million copies. At the same time, it is clear that we can and must do better. Since release, we've been working hard on improvements and are fully committed to continuing to improve and develop the game, because we strongly believe in its future and are doing everything we can to get there."

****"The plan is to support our games for as long as people play them, we will support them as long as it is financially viable for us.**** We have long-term plans for all our games. I can't detail the roadmap for Cities Skylines 2, but performance is a top priority going forward, making it run smoother on most PC machines. Our focus is on performance, adding mod support, console releases, and DLC."

Sounds hopeful but considering the trend in steam charts, also like they are fully prepared to fulfill everyones greatest fears of abandonment.

My greatest fear is needing to buy $500 of DLC over next five years before game is fun and playable

Remember when a companies words and promises meant something?

me neither.

All they should do is keep fixing the game until it's a state the customers are happy with, yes they own it, yes it's their IP, yes it's their company, but the people giving them money are the people playing it - and guess what.
The customer isn't always right but if you want their wallet to open up, you still have to do what the customer wants. (as long as it's reasonable.)

but nope, I don't think this is gonna get fixed, but hey, a lot of people already purchased it so what do they care ? =P

Or you could not buy and play CS1 or another game that lives up to your expectations. Just sayin'...

And you are also sending a signal to developers and publishers to do better next time.

if they are working on the performance issue, I'd be happy even if it takes sometime. though I'm worried about what they meant when they said 1.19 patch will be the last standalone bug fixing. will this definitely fix performance issues and hopefully it's not a typo they meant 1.0.19.

The first clue to them planning a way out was calling us all toxic.

If dlc 1 and 2 don't sell then the game will be cut loose from pdox.

Hopefully everyone boycotts the dlc. Let the game die

Honestly if they just Ol' Yellerd CS2, I'd be beyond happy.

Sooner we stop pretending that several years down the line, they will somehow make this into a stable, optimized experience, the sooner we can all just move along.

The cost of building a new game versus just fixing one already launched are vastly different. Underneath all the performance issues bugs and missing features the game could be good. I for one hope they do pull it off. It doesn't forgive the launch, marketing campaign, and pr; but I'm not in the business of getting to the deeper flaws in the gaming industry, I just want the good city builder I paid for.
