Rivers: currents direction
I made a new map with a single river flowing from North to South.
I placed the river water marker on the border of the map, where the river comes from (North); when I started playing the map, I checked the river currents, and to my surprise I saw that the river is actually flowing upstream, from delta to origin (South->North).
Is this normal, and I made a mistake placing the marker on the point of origin? Should I have placed it south instead?
Or the direction in which the river flows is completely random?
I am really confused, sorry if my explanation isn't very clear.

What does that have to do with anything?

The "built in" map Editor is only an alpha Version. Everything created with this is Not meant to work in later versions of the game they said.

I agree on the editor not being in a "release" state, but isn't it the same editor CO used to create their maps???

CPP uses a custom map for his Let's Plays.

True, thank you for reminding me; I will check what he's done with waterways on his map

Clown take, you can look at how they made the maps and the water sources in-game in the editor. All the functionality is there it's just ease of use they're working on and getting their terrible mod manager up. As for making it, I think the slope matters the most, I dropped in a heightmap for my city, and it's a swampy area so the river doesn't flow at all even though I set it up just like the devs did on their maps. If you look at River Delta, the way they got that to flow was to make the entire map sloped, so I think that's your option for now. I've been messing with the water mod on Thunderstore and have had a little bit more success, but I haven't seen a comprehensive guide on water anywhere. Sloping the entire river the direction I want it to run helped, but it is tedious.

I was afraid that was the issue.
I wonder if elevating just the origin part would do the trick.
I wanted to make a realistic map but the sloping would clash horribly with the way the real city is designed... Another reason not to play the game.
