Banned for criticism on Paradox forums
I don't know how wild mods are on this forum, but I just got banned for criticizing the development of the Cities: Skylines 2 on Paradox forums. I said this game is just bad software, and the developers are either not engineers or don't do their job well.

These people push a disaster on us calling it a finished game, take our money and ban us for criticizing. This is how low things got at Paradox. now they rival Ubisoft and EA in terms of incompetence. Not giving any more money to them until they become better.

Edit: I checked the forum, my post was deleted. So CO and PDX are entitled to sell an unfinished product under false advertising, but legitimate criticism is shut down and deleted.

How would you feel if you were at work and someone accused you of being bad at your job? How would you feel if lots of people attacked you for doing your job? Would you say 'They are right, hmmm, I'll quit and find an easier job. I am so glad you pointed this out as I was unaware'

No, you would probably rage back and defend yourself, whether it was true or not.

Noone likes to be berated on what they do. Noone like to get death threats for work they deliver.

So read back your posts and think if that was aimed at me, how would I react?

I havent read them, but your post here is littered with attacks against someones work output and ethics.

OF COURSE I attack people's ethics!

I mean, an unfinished game was pushed to the market at full price and there is no guarantee it will ever be fixed. How ethical is this? The developers KNEW it wasn't working, didn't they? I am a software engineer myself but I was never criticized like this because I never released an unfinished or untested product.

It is not that hard, really. You just tell your managers that it is not ready! Regardless of how much they cry about it, they can do nothing unless you hand them the deployables.
we should not care about feelings, jesus...

Luckily valve doesn't run every web discussion site. If Paradox or CS bans you from their forum it's their loss. Remember this, There be a way more of us than of them.

You complain on there, and now complain on here, about the fallout of complaining on there. :steamfacepalm:

What's wrong about that? I complained about what I perceive to be the root cause of the problem and got banned for it. Now I do it here and expose their capricious forum moderation along the way. What surprises you about this?

I don't know. Call me sus. I'm suspicious that the OP here may have misbehaved worse than he's letting on in THIS thread. The Paradox/CO people seem very reasonable to me, so trying to bring some kind of suspicion to the public seems a bit suspicious in and of itself.

It may be time for you to learn something completely new from this experience, OP. Never get a 1.0 version of ANYTHING. Not a game, not an OS, not a car, not a refrigerator, and not a smartphone. This is EXACTLY what you did. You bought a 1.0 version of CS2 and now you're mad. I empathize, but I don't feel sorry for you, and I'm just not going to get angry about all this with you or on your behalf.

Oh, and never pre-order anything. Ever. Always wait for a full month to pass before you pay your money. That way, you won't raise the temperature with your words in a forum, and maybe you won't get banned. Just sayin'!

If you do buy a 1.0 of something and/or a pre-order of something, control your verbiage on the manufacturer's forum. Your only decision is to keep the thing and work FORWARD through the problems, or just ask for a refund and be done with the drama.

Yes, of course I did buy the 1.0 version too. But I'm approaching it with appropriate real-world expectation. Play it, see what works, and then have patience and grace with the developer. After all, it was a 1.0 version... and I DID pre-order it. So I broke both of these common-sense rules myself. Why would I raise my stress needlessly by getting mean on a forum?

Anyway, I hope you find your way forward and I hope you don't stress out too much about all of this. It's not worth it in the long run. Good luck!

You insulted them instead of trying to be productive and be nice and point out issues with the game. You deserved your ban.

This is not a "1.0" issue. This is about an unfinished product sold to us disguised as a finished product. I would be OK with a buggy release; being a software engineer myself I understand some scenarios are hard to cover when testing. But that's not the case here. Even content creators with high-end machines cannot simulate crowded cities.

And if you don't know it already, crowded cities is what this game is supposedly all about!!! Hint: SKYLINES.

If they brought you half-cooked food at a restaurant, fully expecting you to eat it; how would you react? Wouldn't you question the cook's professional integrity? Or would you fill out a bug report so that the restaurant gets better for everyone?

Which has me wondering, since the OP has not linked the thread that got them in trouble. Which would make folks wonder what was actually said, just in this case we have to take the OP's word for it.

Bit of a naff analogy, since a game no matter how bad it may be, will not make you sick or to the extreme put you in hospital.

I cannot even visit the forum. I can link it if and when my ban expires. IIRC the thread was called "let's put down CS2" or something like that. It was opened by a user called "Dale" who was also banned. Perhaps I should have taken the hint :)

Guess they don't mind that the ban includes you not ever again buying anything they make.
