Limiting FPS
So i limited FPS to 24 in Nvidia Control Panel. Game is still fluid, however simulation runs much faster. Overall this means days go by faster, cars drive faster, now fps is capped. I can recommend this to anyone! helps like a lot. Are there more ways to speed up simulation via the panel? Anyone? Thanks

.... people have really weird ideas about FPS, i guess the companies won out in promoting 150+ FPS gaming...

What do you mean? I was asking if the limitation through the driver will cause stuttering in the game, Has nothing to do with the framerate

Limiting FPS has a small latency increase depending on it;s implementation, but.. no it doesn't cause stuttering unless Nvidia did a terrible job of it.

Why would it?

Stuttering is caused by inconsistency in the frame rate, which is largely due to the lack of optimisation on the developers part... it's not inherently because of how high or low the FPS is..

Because I have seen it happen in the past in another game.
I wanted to cap it to 60 because my card was running like a space heater for frames that I didn't need. (I actualy don't care much about framerate anyway) So I set it to 60 in the nvidia driver but that caused the game to start stuttering with lets call it micro lags every few seconds.

Try RTSS i think it's still bundled with MSI's afterburner.

Means you have a bottleneck.

Your brain is your bottleneck.

very smooth indeed! i believe @ 24fps the eye still sees a smooth picture. Any lower and it would be choppy. cars are now flying again, zipping up and down the highway. Very happy

Intel and some other groups, did some great studies that showed that changes in frame rate and other similar issues were much more distracting than “low” frame rates. The studies are out there on the internets.

Thats not the point though, and it's pretty obvious

30 frames with inconsistent frame timing is obviously going to be worse than 60 frames with inconsistent frame timing.. did you really need studies to help you grasp that? or just to sell home that I NEED MUH 100+ FRAMES.

Inconsistency in the frame timing is far worse than just a low FPS, but all it is ,like anything, is just pump out more frames and hope the blind won't notice..

♥♥♥♥ 100+ FPS, give me consistent frame timing... but it's easier to not bother optimising games isn't it? and just rely on the recent hardware to make up for it.
