I have never visited that website.
thunderstore.io seems IMHO so irrelevant that it has no scamadviser.com user reviews.
A few comparisons:
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/nexusmods.com
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/thunderstore.io
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/steampowered.com
Such a check example is just one of many points one can look into when trying to judge things for legitimacy.
My 50 cents.
I sometimes file DMCA takedown claims.

I've been using thunder store for 2 years now with no issues.
Nexus and moddb can have the same issue.
Just don't use overshart and install mods manually.
If you're worried about malicious files as i stated use an anti virus or scan the download with virus total.
Stop actually trying to spread fear from a ♥♥♥♥ antivirus company that's literally irrelevant.
Even with Nexus it can happen, despite checking, that a virus sneaks in.
So there is always a risk. Even if it may be small.
