Oof.
but really, probably a land pollution issue if I had to guess. Information is kinda lacking here.
but seriously, it just sounds like a bug, if you could try loading a new map and just watch the forests for a bit on maximum speed, see if it happens again?
Also I assume you've gone to the Steam library, right clicked the game, and "Verify Files" ? it'll just ensure nothing is corrupt or mismatched.
Also the beautiful Green trees after a fire ... they should die and disappear! But Not the healthy ones, they should be there 4ever!
Yeah, it's like I have lumber industry in my city.. except I don't.
I HATE HOW TREES ARE HANDLED IN CS2. I want to just plop fully-grown trees for aesthetic purposes, not wait *actual* weeks for them to grow up, only for them to later lose their "wood" and be uglier than bare ground.
Why did I highlight *actual* weeks to grow? Because at "only" 200k, my city runs like molasses on a cold day on a pretty solid rig. Game is unplayable.
Cities Skylines 2 boss says "if you dislike the simulation, this game just might not be for you,"

yeah. Pretty annoying, There's a mod on Thunderstore that allows you to place trees in their fully grown state. I think the idea of having trees grow overtime seemed like a cool idea, but doesn't really playout well, especially if you are focusing on detailing.
