What does a railyard do?
Could someone please tell me. What does a railyard do. And how do I use it.

The train depot, as it is probably called in european english, provides trains. Without it -> no trains.

It's a spawn point and maintenance center for trains. Honestly kinda silly to need it for outside connections but it makes sense if you're using rail for commuter and cargo service locally. It's also misnamed, IRL it would be called an equipment maintenance center, a workshop, or just "the works", it doesn't actually have a sufficiently large storage yard.

He probably meant "British English" as opposed to "American English".

Thanks for the quick reply!

Does there have to be a path from the railyard to all of my rail lines. Or can I just place a railyard anywhere on a map?

It has to at least have a connection to your rail network, but in CS2 trains will actually stop and change direction mid-route if they need to, as opposed to only doing so at station stops in CS1.

Just to add that, like any other services, that you may need more than one if you have many lines/trains running. Each yard has a capacity of 15 trains, if I am not mistaken.

Yes, and in America a Train Depot usually means human and small package transport while a Rail Yard usually means large commercial transport.

You railyard must be connected to your rail roads.
