PARKING, why doesn’t anyone talk about it?
I have 110k inhabitants, 225 million in cash, a traffic rate at a peak of 65%, things seem to flow.

However, parking seems to have a serious problem for me. Cars enter and leave, including buses and trucks. It doesn't make sense, it slows down all traffic.

Do you suffer from this problem too?
I have no street parking and I have practically closed all my parking lots. I even created underground tunnels like worms that led only to the destination of the parking lots, but chaos ensued.

Either you don't have enough parking or your parking lots are poorly placed. Cars will continue to drive around until they can find a parking spot. The more cars, the fewer parking spots, the worse your traffic will get. While it's annoying, it's also realistic and working as intended..

The worst part of parking is knowing where and when to put some down. I see cars all over the place I place one down. But sometimes that doesn't do anything or its not doing what I expect, etc. I just don't know what it means to be "in need" of parking but it definitely generates a lot of walkers so put em near low traffic areas.

Um no, they asked if anyone else has this problem too and I answered. Yes I did, and that's how I solved it. But thanks for the insult. Really shows why I'm not talking about it. Which was another part of their question.

If they want to make this game even more realistic, they need to sprinkle in fire hydrants to fool your sims driving around into thinking there's a parking spot there but there really isn't.

Um no, I'm sharing my thoughts on the matter. You could have retorted what I said rather than just resorting to insults. But I suppose you have no real counterargument.
My counter argument? It's up there. The "parking" zone of influence is missing from the game. Now resort to a reason why parking interfacing is opaque?

If you go into parking it will show you where parking is available and where it's struggling and how much you have available.

No, much like the mail system it's half baked. But continue defusing a situation that has nothing to do with you personally.

"But continue defusing a situation that has nothing to do with you personally." You keep making this personal. Not me. All I did was answer the question.

If I remember correctly, the buses and trucks driving through the parking lot are a mistake that needs to be fixed.
That was the case with me too.
When I built a parking lot on a main road, almost all vehicles drove through the parking lot.
Not just those who were looking for a parking space.
Cars, trucks, vans, buses, taxis, police, fire departments, ambulances.
Pretty much everything except the tram.
Only when I turned the parking spaces 180° so that the entrance was on a side street did the phenomenon stop.
There are still taxis or police and a bus line that still drive through the parking lot, but things have gotten better.

What upsets me more is the phenomenon of my Cims wanting to park on the sidewalk as if their lives depended on it.
They would rather walk 1km just so they can park on the sidewalk instead of using the free parking lot that is close to their destination.
For this reason, I could also tear down my parking spaces, because in my largest district with 68k residents, out of 3,000 parking spaces, only 400 are used.
And the parking spaces are strategically well chosen and not in the middle of the world

Your precious parking mechanic is broken. Your precious game, broken. Your precious face, not saved!

Ok fine. I submit to the doctrine of C0hKaine. Have a nice day.

I noticed that. That always annoyed me. Certain places like parking lots and hospitals, vehicles would use them to do a u-turn or to take a shortcut. I'm glad the developers are fixing that.

I also noticed that parking fees seem like they might be broken. Whether you raise or lower them it seems to have no impact on their attractiveness to your cims.

I put parking near high density buildings, charge $25 and also charge more for on street . My carparks are 90% full and making me lots of dosh.

Parking fees are an inferior meta. High density offices with high education is the best revenue generation. But I think an entire map with 1000 parking lots to sell off as parking to other cities would be funny.
